Arsenal could still face an upheaval in their goalkeeper department in what remains of this summer transfer window.
Arsenal signed David Raya on a permanent basis this summer, taking up their purchase option included in his loan switch from Brentford.
The Euro 2024 winner is now the Gunners’ established No. 1, and will almost certainly remain as Mikel Arteta’s first choice pick between the sticks throughout this campaign.
The Spanish shot-stopper certainly looks settled and assured in that role now. Raya impressed Arsenal fans against Wolves with his performance and he is expected to have a successful season.
However, there is currently uncertainty over the second choice goalkeeper position at the Emirates Stadium.
Aaron Ramsdale is currently offering back up in North London. However, the England international won’t be happy to spend another season on the bench, and at this stage in his career he needs to be playing regular football.
The 26-year-old has proven himself to be a top class ‘keeper and will want more than a back up role. Ajax have shown interest in Ramsdale this summer, and he could yet be prised away from Arsenal prior to Transfer Deadline Day.

Arsenal stance on Aaron Ramsdale
According to journalist Alex Crook, reporting on X, Arsenal are: “Still asking for permanent offers for Ramsdale at this time so nothing close with Wolves. Gunners anticipate strong interest from a number of PL clubs before the deadline.”
Sky Sports have since reported that Wolves are in “talks” to sign the Gunners’ net-minder.
However, it seems that the Midlands outfit are set to face competition for the player’s signature. Arsenal will welcome a bidding war for Ramsdale, hoping that it will drive up his price.
Arsenal must plan for Ramsdale exit
If Ramsdale does leave the club this summer, then Arteta will need him to be immediately and directly replaced. With Karl Hein having left Arsenal on loan, there is no other first team goalkeeper available to offer cover for Raya.
As such, Arsenal are targeting Joan Garcia to replace Ramsdale. The Gunners are well-placed to snap up the Espanyol ace.
