One of Mikel Arteta’s key players was approached by Bayern Munich after Arsenal’s win over the Bavarian giants.
Arsenal beat Bayern 3-1 at the Emirates to keep their impeccable Champions League record intact.
After the game, it became apparent that Bayern were obsessed with Declan Rice, being left spellbound by the Arsenal midfielder.
Fascinatingly, it wasn’t only the England international that Vincent Kompany’s side took a liking to, as the match actually prompted the German club to approach Jurrien Timber.

Bayern Munich want to sign Jurrien Timber
Timber has collected high praise this season, as he continues to show himself as one of Arteta’s most important players.
Since recovering from an ACL injury, Timber has become one of the best full-backs in the world, which is exactly what Bayern Munich think of the Arsenal star.
Bayern insider, Bayern Space, who also reported the club’s infatuation with Rice, revealed that contact was made with Timber’s representatives after Arsenal’s win.
It’s understood that Bayern ‘explored the possibility of a summer transfer’, but were met with a resounding no.
If Milos Kerkez is worth £40m, how much is Jurrien Timber worth?
The response from Timber’s agents was described as ‘immediate, firm and delivered with clarity’.
Andrea Berta is having contract talks with Timber, doubling down on the fact that, as Bayern Space state, the right-back has ‘no intention of leaving Arsenal’.
In response to their transfer poser, Bayern were informed that Timber’s contract talks are ‘underway and progressing smoothly’ and that even a pay rise wouldn’t pry the Dutchman away from the Emirates.
It’s a hugely exciting revelation, as, if anything, it symbolises that Arsenal is the place to be for the best players in Europe.
Timber’s market value is consistently rising
Given the stage that Arteta’s project is at, there was no chance that the Gunners would be prepared to part ways with one of their best players under any circumstances.
Even if that wasn’t the case, letting Timber leave now would be a catastrophe, as his market value is continually rising.
Will Jurrien Timber be a £100m+ player? How many of those are there in the Arsenal squad? 👀
As per Transfermarkt’s data, when Timber returned from his ACL injury, his market value sat at €38m.
Now, the figure reads €60m, but it has to be said, in today’s market, he’s probably worth double that.
The future is not only bright for Timber, but Arsenal too, who have curated a team full of high-value superstars.
