After Jorginho’s departure, Arsenal are close to announcing their second exit of the summer transfer window.
Clubs have wasted no time getting their squads in order ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Already, Arsenal’s rivals have made moves in reaction to last season, as the 2025 summer transfer window opened for registration on June 1st.
Change is expected at the Emirates, not only with regard to signings to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s project, but departures too.
Jorginho announced his Arsenal exit shortly after the season ended, with the midfielder set to join Flamengo as a free agent at the expiration of his contract.

Cruzeiro announce Marquinhos’ new squad number
The Italian will trade North London for Rio de Janeiro after two and a half years of service, but he’s not the only Gunner set to make Brazil home.
Marquinhos’ time at Arsenal will come to an end, as the winger is set to make his loan move to Cruzeiro permanent.
After Andrea Berta was forced to address Marquinhos’ contractual issues, the 2022 signing’s pathway to leaving Arsenal was cleared, with Cruzeiro’s latest announcement all but wrapping up the transfer saga.
Prior to the Brazilian club’s win over Palmeiras, Cruzeiro unveiled the 22-year-old’s new squad number, seeing Marquinhos take on the number seven shirt after wearing the number 17.
The change in shirt number is thought to represent his new contract, though his permanent move has not yet been made official.
Marquinhos debuted his new shirt number with an eight-minute cameo against Palmeiras, coming on as a late substitute.
Marquinhos’ Arsenal career in numbers
After embarking on four different loan spells since signing for Arsenal in 2022, the writing has been on the wall for the winger for some time.
The 22-year-old has made just six appearances for Arsenal’s first team, scoring one goal that reduced him to tears in a heartwarming moment against FC Zurich in the Europa League.
After Arsenal’s decision to sign Marquinhos over Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was aired, it would be an understatement to say that the Brazilian’s time in North London has been nothing short of a disaster.
That being said, it’s no fault of the player’s own, being drawn away from his homeland arguably too soon, with a lot of development to do.
Once the deal is confirmed, Arsenal will wish the youngster all the best as he looks to rebuild his career with Cruzeiro.
