Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
The 21-year-old has impressed in La Liga since making his breakthrough into the Valencia side two seasons ago and adds further depth to Mikel Arteta’s defensive options.
Mosquera is a powerful presence in the back line with an aggressive nature in the duels, much to Arteta’s delight and preference.
With Takehiro Tomiyasu leaving the club by mutual agreement, it is believed that Mosquera finalises the plan for Arsenal at the back and their solidity is set to continue next season.

Arsenal confirm signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia
Arsenal have confirmed that Mosquera has signed a long-term deal at the club after passing medical tests this week.
The defender will now join up with Arteta’s squad on their pre-season tour of Asia and it gives the Spaniard the chance to integrate with his new teammates.
Andrea Berta has been praised for Mosquera’s signing with claims that Arsenal have acquired a ‘colossus’ at the back for an excellent fee.
Mosquera follows the additions of the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, with fans now hoping that attentions turn to the club’s forward line.
Arsenal’s defensive depth after Cristhian Mosquera signing
Arsenal had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season with just 34 goals conceded and it appears that will be their key strength once again this campaign.
Strikers win matches but defenders win titles is a saying in football and with the options now at Arteta’s disposal, the Gunners are looking a formidable prospect to get beyond.
Mikel Arteta’s current Arsenal defensive options
Jurrien Timber
Ben White
William Saliba
Cristhian Mosquera
Gabriel Magalhaes
Jakub Kiwior
Myles Lewis-Skelly
Riccardo Calafiori
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Whilst the club are actively looking to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko in order to raise funds for further additions, his departure would still leave Arteta with two excellent options for each position.
Arsenal fans want Jakub Kiwior to stay amid reports that he could be allowed to leave the club this summer.
However, the real positive for Arteta is that many of his current options have the versatility to play in more than one position.
Calafiori can cover at centre back and left back, whilst both White and Timber have the ability to play all across the back line.
