Arsenal have not had the start to the summer transfer window they were looking for.
Fans are having to be patient as a number of attacking transfer targets slip from the Gunners’ grasp, whilst there are frustrations in negotiations for strikers Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.
Nico Williams wants to join Barcelona in a setback to Mikel Arteta over his preferred signing in the wide areas.
Rodrygo will be a challenging deal for Arsenal as Andrea Berta looks to sign the Brazilian from Real Madrid, therefore Declan Rice’s verdict on another transfer target could give Arteta some much-needed good news.

Declan Rice praised Arsenal transfer target Antony Gordon
According to journalist David Ornstein, the club have now cooled interest in signing Williams and Arsenal could turn attention to Antony Gordon from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
Gordon tormented Arsenal during the last campaign after producing a wonderful cross for Alexander Isak to score the winner at St James’s Park in a league clash in November.
He was also instrumental in the Carabao Cup semi-final victory, scoring in both legs as Newcastle ended their long trophy drought.
As per the Chronicle Live, Gunners midfielder Rice is a big fan of Gordon and was full of praise for the winger after his England debut back in March 2024.
Rice commented on Gordon’s Instagram post and wrote: “Some player, more to come my brother.”
How Antony Gordon compares with Arsenal’s wingers
Arteta is under pressure next season to deliver a major trophy and knows the importance of adding firepower to his ranks.
Gordon would be an exceptional signing should Berta manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium and the England winger would provide versatility on both flanks.
| Statistics last season in all competitions | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Gordon | 42 | 9 | 7 |
| Saka | 37 | 12 | 14 |
| Martinelli | 51 | 10 | 6 |
| Trossard | 56 | 10 | 10 |
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both struggled to cement their place on the left and Gordon likes to operate from that flank.
However, the winger also had success playing on the right-hand side under Eddie Howe, giving Arteta the option to rest and rotate Bukayo Saka when needed.
