Arsenal fans are waking up to news that their North London rivals are set to go head to head for their top transfer target.

Arsenal are expected to make a bid for Eberechi Eze before the transfer window slams shut on September 1st.

However, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Eze as they look to bolster their squad following a serious injury to James Maddison.

It is now a race between the two clubs to agree a fee with Crystal Palace and convince the England international to join the right project. Eze has already made his stance clear.

Eberechi Eze ‘dream’ is to play for Arsenal as Tottenham enter transfer talks

Spurs are looking to add Eze to their squad as they prepare for life back in the Champions League and look to improve on their 17th place finish in the Premier League last season.

However, Eze has already made it clear that his ‘dream’ is to play for Arsenal, after he was released by the Gunners aged 13.

Eze stated: “Arsenal is probably the hardest, my dream is to play for them, so hearing them say no at 13, that was tough.

“I remember like training after I got released and I couldn’t focus.”

Eze played 90 minutes in Crystal Palace’s Community Shield victory over Liverpool and Steve Parish refused to rule out a move for Eze.

It is now up to Andrea Berta to move quickly on this deal if the 27-year-old is Mikel Arteta’s missing piece to his attacking jigsaw.

Alternative options for Arsenal should Spurs sign Eberechi Eze

Eze has been described as ‘frightening’ but there are some doubts at the club as to whether he is the right fit for the final attacking signing the club are wishing to pursue.

There is an imbalance to Arsenal’s attack right now and they are eyeing reinforcements for the left flank to give Gabriel Martinelli competition.

Arsenal were exploring a loan move for Rodrygo but it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid would accept such a deal for the Brazilian winger.

The Gunners also have long-term interest in Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, however, the Magpies would be reluctant to lose both Gordon and Alexander Isak in the same window.

What is clear is that the club need something extra in their attacking options to break teams down when they are sitting deep. Time is running out to find that player.
