Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah has been linked with a surprise exit in recent days, but there is seemingly nothing to these rumours.
The striker has featured more regularly for Arsenal this season, and whilst he has chipped in with goals, they have come inconsistently, and he caused frustration amongst fans after missing a golden chance in his side’s victory over Wolves on Saturday.
Reports emerged that Arsenal would be willing to sell the 24-year-old in January in order to fund their other business, with a midfielder wanted, but as it stands this appears unlikely.
Fabrizio Romano denies Eddie Nketiah transfer rumours
In his Daily Briefing, Fabrizio Romano claimed that as it stands, there is nothing to suggest that Arsenal are about to sanction an exit for one of their academy products.
“There’s also no concern over Eddie Nketiah – Mikel Arteta is very happy with Nketiah’s behaviour off the pitch, in training and obviously with his performances on the pitch,” Romano revealed.
“So it’s all very quiet at this stage, even if there have been links with new strikers and some outlets have cast doubt over Nketiah’s future as a result of this. That’s not my current understanding of the situation.”
Eddie Nketiah is underrated at Arsenal

Whilst his miss against Wolves did cost Martin Odegaard a deserved assist, Nketiah seemed to pick up a lot more criticism than Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli on the day, who also missed big chances to extend Arsenal’s lead into a comfortable one.
Nketiah is one of Arsenal’s top scorers this season, and even earned himself a call-up to the England squad following a strong start to the campaign.
Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal’s undisputed first-choice number nine, but as backups go, Nketiah is someone who steps into the team when necessary, remains professional over his role in the squad, and can add goals off the bench.
Whilst the ball did not find the back of the net against Wolves, Nketiah has mostly delivered in front of goal when called upon, with a hattrick against Sheffield United a standout moment for him, and he will hope to play himself back into the fans’ good books in the next few weeks.
Arsenal have a tough schedule ahead, and Nketiah will hope to be rotated into the team more to build up some match sharpness. It is not easy for a striker to be firing at 100% when coming in cold, and more minutes may help him tidy up his finishing.
Next week’s Champions League tie at PSV Eindhoven is a good opportunity for Nketiah to lead the line from the start and add to his goal tally.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers including Ivan Toney, and Nketiah will hope he can convince Mikel Arteta that he is an option who can be relied upon.
