Mikel Arteta can land his dream Arsenal target for a cut-price deal this summer, which could come at the perfect time.
Andrea Berta’s focus is on the attack, as few areas need improvement as much as Arsenal’s striker options.
That being said, it’s not the only position under review over the 2025 summer transfer window, as targets in an array of roles have been identified.
The midfield is expected to undergo a rebuild in preparation for the 2025/26 campaign, and Martin Zubimendi’s arrival might not be the only introduction to the engine room.

Arsenal learn Douglas Luiz’s availability
Jorginho has already made his debut for Flamengo after completing a transfer, and now, the Italian could be followed out of the door by Thomas Partey.
Partey is expected to leave Arsenal in a transfer U-turn after it was understood that he would remain at the Emirates following a new contract being tabled.
Talks hit a wall when Partey demanded a salary increase, which at 32, was an unrealistic scenario and one that the Gunners must now move away from.
Fortunately, the market isn’t short of options to replace the Ghanaian, and in an alternate view, his exit is coming at the perfect time.
Italian outlet TuttoSport have reported Juventus’ desire to offload Douglas Luiz this summer, a deal that could happen at a cut-price.
Though the Turin club ideally want to sell the Brazilian for €40m so they don’t record any capital loss, the Italian side realise the asking price could be unrealistic.
As a result, TuttoSport believe that Juve could offer Luiz to interested clubs on a loan with an obligation to buy deal that could see him leave Turin for a mere fee of €30m (£27m).
It’s a prospect that will certainly turn heads at the Emirates, as Arsenal have tried to sign Luiz three times, having two bids rejected for the former Aston Villa star in 2022.
Arteta regarded Luiz as his dream signing back then, and despite his disastrous season at Juventus, there’s nothing to indicate that the Spaniard’s opinion has significantly changed.
The 27-year-old was a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League before he left Villa, giving Berta an incentive to reassess the chances of signing the midfielder this summer.
Luiz is the perfect replacement for Thomas Partey
While bidding farewell to Partey is the right thing to do, it does not mean that the Ghana international won’t need to be replaced by a sufficient successor.
Having Premier League experience under his belt, Luiz could be the perfect figure to replace the 32-year-old, even more so as his valuation has dropped quite significantly.
| Statistic | Douglas Luiz | Thomas Partey |
| Goals | 9 | 4 |
| Assists | 5 | 2 |
| Key passes | 1.5 | 0.6 |
| Big chances created | 10 | 3 |
| Interceptions | 0.7 | 1.0 |
| Tackles | 1.7 | 2.5 |
| Ball recoveries | 5.3 | 3.9 |
| Duel win % | 51% | 57% |
After contributing to 14 goals over the 2023/24 Premier League season for Villa, Luiz relocated to Turin and recorded only three starts for Juve in a nightmare transfer.
It’s no surprise that Juve want to cash in, and a return to England might be in the Brazilian’s sights after his confidence and form were shattered by the disastrous move.
Arteta is an admirer of Luiz; that much is known, but whether the Spaniard decides to consider the Brazil international once more remains to be seen.
