How Arsenal are already planning to beat Chelsea to crucial £50m signing next summer

Although Arsenal are right in the thick of a busy period of fixtures before the next international break, Edu and his transfer team will have one eye on January and beyond.

Arsenal strengthened their squad by signing Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino in the summer, two players intended to deepen the squad depth available to Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners didn’t dramatically improve their starting eleven in a similar vein to the summer beforehand, spending a much more considered sum.

And perhaps that quieter spending will preclude a real push in 2025, when Arteta may sanction moves for a couple of Declan Rice type signings.

Given Gabriel Jesus is struggling at Arsenal, it seems fairly straightforward to conclude that the Gunners will be in the market to bring a new striker to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal looking to secure Benjamin Sesko deal in January, but there’s an issue

With that in mind, GIVEMESPORT are reporting that Arsenal are considering a pre-agreement move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko rejected Arsenal in the summer, ultimately favouring another year of development in the Bundesliga.

However, it seems as if Arsenal’s interest hasn’t gone away and Sesko has a verbal agreement to leave Leipzig in 2025, if he so pleases.

The striker won’t jump ship in January, but could perhaps sign a deal with Arsenal ahead of a summer move.

According to the report, Leipzig would be willing to let Sesko leave for £50m, a very reasonable sum given his growing reputation.

Securing a deal in advance would help Arsenal beat the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to a deal, who both tracked the striker last summer.

However, it’s believed that Sesko may choose not to rush into a big move and might even decide to ignore any advances until 2026.

Should Arsenal actaully move on from Benjamin Sesko?

Of course, if Sesko continues to reject Arsenal’s offers, there will be a point by which Edu and his team will have to move on.

The 21-year-old Serbian seems perfectly suited as a high-octane alternative to Kai Havertz, the kind of skill-set Gabriel Jesus doesn’t currently offer.

But Arsenal need to address the issue next summer, they can’t keep waiting for a striker who could easily soon attract the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Perhaps Arsenal might revive their Alexander Isak interest instead, a striker who hasn’t enjoyed the most prolific start to the new season with Newcastle United.

However, a lacklustre campaign may end up helping any move that Arsenal make, and it’s clear that Arteta could unlock a player like Isak in north London.
