Arsenal may well seek to bolster their attacking contingent in the upcoming January transfer window.
Mikel Arteta will want to add more firepower to his ranks, and the urgency to do so may now feel all the more pressing given Bukayo Saka’s injury.
The Arsenal winger limped off against Crystal Palace on Saturday, after hurting his hamstring. Saka could now be set for more than a month on the sidelines.
His absence will come as a huge blow to the Gunners, as the Hale End academy graduate has been the North London club’s most productive attacker so far this season.
However, Gabriel Martinelli impressed whilst deputising for Saka at Selhurst Park, and the Brazilian winger is not the only alternative option that Arteta has to call upon in that part of the pitch.

Mikel Arteta eyeing Mohammed Kudus and three other transfer targets
Despite having options in the wide areas at his disposal, the Spanish coach is still keen to bring a new winger to the Emirates Stadium, and could move to do so this winter with four targets under consideration.
However, Saka’s injury will not have a major bearing on this decision, as explained exclusively to Arsenal Insider by transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
He revealed: “I am told that Saka’s injury won’t create a knee jerk reaction but we already know Arsenal are in the market for not just a central forward but a winger also.
“We know they have looked at players like Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Nico Williams, etc., in recent months but they do like Mohammed Kudus a lot, don’t overlook their interest in him.”
Which winger should Arsenal sign?
Mohammed Kudus has largely impressed for West Ham United since his arrival in the Premier League, and has shown moments of real quality.
The Ghanaian’s versatility will also appeal to Arteta, as he is comfortable on either flank and can even operate in a central role.
Like Kudus, Raphinha and Ferran Torres both boast Premier League experience, and would add quality to Arsenal’s ranks.
However, if Nico Williams becomes available to the Gunners then Arteta ought to make the Athletic Bilbao man his top target.
Whilst the Spanish winger has not been at his best in La Liga this season, he has vast potential and has dazzled at the highest level before. After all, he was able to shine for Spain on their way to winning Euro 2024 in the summer.
Williams may have his heart set on a move to Barcelona, but Arsenal ought to be ready to do all they can to tempt him to North London.
