Arsenal look set to sell a few valuable assets in the summer window, and several fringe players could be on the way out.

Mikel Arteta may allow some fairly popular players to depart, as the club look to cash in whilst values are high and playing time is low for some of these stars, which will give the club breathing space in the transfer market when it come to profit and sustainability rules.

Two of these potential departing players are goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and striker Eddie Nketiah. Both started on the opening day of the season, but Ramsdale since lost his starting place to David Raya, whilst Nketiah has fallen down the pecking order upfront.

With both players hardly featuring of late, but Ramsdale set to start against Brentford tomorrow, it has now emerged that whilst both have been professional and fully committed, there is an air of acceptance that neither will be at the club next season.

Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah have realised they will leave Arsenal

Speaking on the Arsenal Beat Podcast, journalist Jordan Davies has claimed that both Ramsdale and Nketiah accept that their Arsenal careers will coming to an end at the end of the season, and their prospects of game time before then are slim.

” I just think Eddie mentally is out. I think he knows that he’s done, after he did not get a game (against Sheffield United),” he stated of Nketiah.

“I’d be very, very surprised if Eddie is still at the club this summer. He’s still got years in his contract and he should bring in a reasonable fee. Arsenal need to raise funds, they have money anyway to spend but they’ll be wanting to raise funds, and I’m sure Eddie will be one who’s out the door, and good for him, because actually, he deserves to have a better career than the one he’s currently having.

“I don’t think Aaron’s mentally checked out, but I think he knows that his time at Arsenal is done,” he stated of Ramsdale.

Although both players deserve respect, with Ramsdale handling his tough situation well, and Nketiah perhaps underrated at times, selling both players is the right thing to do this summer.

Ramsdale needs to play regularly, and his value will be high after signing a new contract in the summer, and as an England International and a top-quality goalkeeper, he can attract a good fee.

Nketiah has been linked with several Premier League sides, and as an England International, he could also attract a strong fee for a player who has not started at all in 2024.

Arsenal will have learned that holding onto a player who is not a regular starter will only devalue them, as seen with Ainsley Maitland-Niles four years ago, and both players will give the club a major financial boost with their departures.
