Arsenal’s interest in Julian Alvarez has been widely reported for a few months now.
The forwards market for elite clubs is a very small one, and at this moment in time, the Atletico Madrid star might just be the best among everyone else.
That is why several clubs, including Arsenal, are interested in signing Alvarez, but Atleti’s demands are absolutely astronomical.
However, a new detail has now emerged that states Alvarez could actually be available for a much lower fee.

Arsenal may not have to trigger Julian Alvarez’s massive release clause to sign him
Atletico Madrid have been adamant that Julian Alvarez is not for sale.
The Rojiblancos have had to deal with both Barcelona and Real Madrid’s interest in their Argentine attacker, but they have shown no willingness to negotiate.
In fact, Atleti have pointed to Alvarez’s €500 million (£430m) release clause as interest in their star forward has increased over the last month.
However, Ben Jacobs has now claimed that a provision in the World Cup winner’s contract allows certain Champions League clubs to sign him for a significantly lesser fee.

The journalist said on The Latte Firm: “I’m also told, despite the fact I can guarantee you Atletico Madrid will deny it, that the release clause for Julian Alvarez is more complicated.
“For certain Champions League clubs, certainly Barcelona, there is dispensation to get the player for a lower number, and Andrea Berta will know this as well, closer to €130 million (£112m).
“But the complication and the reason why nobody’s proceeded is you’ve got to pay the taxes as well. So that still creates an overall deal package of closer to €150 million (£129m).
“But I’m told reliably by multiple sources that the €500 million release clause is kind of grandstanding and a deal could happen for between €130 million and €150 million (£112-129m).”
What is the highest fee you would pay to sign Julian Alvarez for Arsenal?
Is he worth more than Declan Rice?👀
How much Arsenal are willing to pay to sign Julian Alvarez
Arsenal’s current record signing is Declan Rice, who cost them £105 million including add-ons.
The Gunners will know for a fact that they will have to break that record if they are to sign Alvarez, even if Jacobs’ information above is accurate.
That, however, is not of much concern.
Reports have claimed that Arsenal believe they have the financial power to pay £130 million for Alvarez in this summer’s transfer window.
It’s now down to the player to decide whether he wants to join the Premier League champions.
