Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the Argentine striker this summer, with the Gunners looking to sign another attacker.

Barca are facing real issues in their bid to sign him, given the fact that Atletico Madrid are reluctant to lose him to another La Liga club.

Yamal has now been speaking about the situation and made his feelings very clear about a potential deal for the 26-year-old.

Lamine Yamal wants Barcelona to sign Julian Alvarez before Arsenal

Lamine Yamal has made it very clear that he wants FC Barcelona to beat Arsenal to the signing of Julian Alvarez this summer.

The Atletico striker has made it clear that he wants to leave the club during this window and is dreaming of a move to Barcelona.

Alvarez has told Arsenal he is open to joining them, but only if his dream of joining Barca falls through.

Yamal has now urged the Catalan club to get the deal done and put further pressure on the move to happen.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Yamal said: “I hope Julian Alvarez joins Barcelona. If he comes, we’ll welcome him with open arms.

“He’d be joining the best club in the world. If I were in his position, I’d do it. We’re waiting for him if he wants to come. He’s more than welcome.”

Atletico have already rejected £130m for Alvarez, although a move to Arsenal could prove to be cheaper.

Atletico would rather sell Alvarez to Arsenal than to one of their La Liga rivals, which hands the Gunners a slight glimmer of hope.

A swap deal involving Viktor Gyokeres plus cash for Alvarez has already been proposed by the Spanish club, but that deal seems unlikely at this stage.

Barca are now set to make a strong push to land the striker over the coming weeks, but the North London club will remain lurking in the background.
