Arsenal could see their move for a new goalkeeper hijacked by Liverpool in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, according to reports.

It comes as Aaron Ramsdale has been rumoured with a move to Wolves, following an offer made by the club for the shot-stopper.

An initial loan deal with an option of a permanent transfer is on the table, though Mikel Arteta’s response is currently unknown.

The Gunners are believed to be open to letting Ramsdale leave in the transfer window but prefer a permanent exit over a loan.

The England international had been an important player for the Gunners after his move from Sheffield United in 2021.

Shortly after arriving at the Emirates Stadium, Ramsdale had become the number-one choice between the sticks.

However, with David Raya now the first-choice option for Arteta, an Arsenal exit could be on the cards for the current backup.

That has led to plenty of discussions surrounding a replacement for Ramsdale, with one name in particular being linked.

Liverpool monitoring Arsenal transfer target Joan Garcia

The player who has been touted as a potential replacement for Ramsdale is Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Joan Garcia over a potential switch this summer.

Despite that, any move for the Spaniard will likely depend on moves working elsewhere and falling into place.

While the Gunners await potential exits, that may allow one of their rivals in Liverpool to swoop in with a move.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are monitoring the situation surrounding Garcia in case they wish to step in and hijack the deal.

La Liga outfit Girona are also believed to have made an offer for the goalkeeper, though he is yet to make a move.

That may force Arsenal into making a transfer sooner rather than later for the 23-year-old this summer.

Liverpool goalkeeper transfer may save Arsenal

While Liverpool are seemingly monitoring the future of Garcia, Arsenal may be saved by news elsewhere about their Premier League rivals.

The Reds are currently closing in on a deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, according to Fabrizio Romano, with a transfer likely to push through for 2025.

It may mean the Merseyside outfit pull out of the market for a new goalkeeper, opening up a nearly free run at landing Garcia for Arsenal.

It remains to be seen if that is the case or if Liverpool do plan on adding another goalkeeper into the mix.

However, it could add a bit more breathing room for Arteta and his recruitment team in being able to seal a move if required.
