Raheem Sterling set for next move after Arsenal transfer flop one year on from deadline day move

Former Arsenal transfer flop Raheem Sterling is facing another busy deadline day, as he is in talks over a late move in the window.

The England international made a last-gasp switch from rivals Chelsea to the Gunners on a loan deal as Edu Gaspar looked to improve the forward ranks.

While Sterling to Arsenal seemed an ideal, low-risk move, it was one that simply didn’t work out for the winger.

With Bukayo Saka’s injury, there was an expectation that the experienced star would step up, but he was overtaken in the pecking order by Ethan Nwaneri.

Sterling failed to make an impact and eventually return to Chelsea, with the expectation that he would leave.

After a summer with very little talk surrounding his future, the winger could finally be set for his move, yet again on transfer deadline day.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Raheem Sterling is in talks with Fulham for transfer switch

With Sterling’s difficult loan at Arsenal now over, there is real uncertainty as to where his future could now lie.

The winger has had some rumours circling his next club, but as the hours tick down, discussions will need to ramp up.

A move to another Premier League club could be on the cards, as Fabrizio Romano reports that Fulham have revived talks with Sterling over a move.

It remains to be seen what sort of deal this could be, either a loan or a permanent, as they continue discussions with other options.

Arsenal may have played a slight hand in this, too, as Reiss Nelson is set to join Brentford on loan, taking away the possibility of a return.

There will be a busy few hours ahead for Sterling, who faces another late one on deadline day, similar to last season.

When Raheem Sterling could make his return against Arsenal

Fulham have a growing core of former Arsenal players, which includes the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi and Bernd Leno.

Sterling may join those ranks if a deal goes through, which could see the Gunners reunite with him once again this season.

There are two potential meetings where Arsenal could take on their former loanee.

Mikel Arteta will be hopeful that the winger doesn’t come back to haunt him in what could be his most important season as head coach.
