Rodrygo is one name that has been frequently linked to Arsenal this summer as his Real Madrid future is unclear.
Xabi Alonso overlooked Rodrygo at the Club World Cup, giving the Brazilian only 92 minutes of action.
It was a telling decision from Real Madrid’s manager, alerting Arsenal to the possibility that the winger could be on the move this summer.
Mikel Arteta has already bolstered his squad with one winger, signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea, but it’s clear that another would be beneficial.

Arsenal could sign Rodrygo for cheaper than expected
Squad depth was a problem for Arsenal last season as injuries rocked Arteta’s squad throughout the 2024/25 calendar.
With Leandro Trossard’s future unclear, it’s necessary for Andrea Berta to bring at least one more attacker in, with Rodrygo being a possibility.
Though it’s understood that Berta has reservations about Rodrygo’s price tag, the sporting director’s thoughts could soon change.
Speaking to WeAreTottenhamTV, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that he’s ‘heard’ that Real Madrid could lower their asking price for the Brazil international.
“That exit will potentially be as high as €90m, but I have actually heard in the past few days that the price could drop somewhat, because if the player says he doesn’t want to stay, Real are prepared to do a deal a little bit cheaper.”
Jacobs elaborated on Berta’s concerns, explaining that it’s not only the player’s up-front cost that needs to be considered.
“That may be the only way because many of these clubs that have explored the Rodrygo deal realise it’s very expensive on the agent and the player’s side.”
Other clubs have taken a look at the deal, as Liverpool have shown an interest in Rodrygo, as have Arsenal’s neighbours.
Rodrygo joining Arsenal would be a blow for Tottenham
It’s been reported that Tottenham are looking at Rodrygo, but the player’s stance on a potential move all but discards the Lilywhites’ interest.
To Arsenal fans’ humour, Rodrygo doesn’t want to join Spurs, with journalist Santi Aouna reporting that the reason is that the Brazilian wants a ‘bigger club’.
If the Gunners were now able to strike a deal to bring the winger to the Emirates, it would make those in N17 look rather silly.
The Spurs aspect is minuscule with regard to what a possible transfer for Rodrygo would offer to Arsenal, as Arteta could do with another top-class forward before the window closes.
