Tottenham could hand Arsenal transfer blow as rivals discuss £76m striker linked to Gunners

Mikel Arteta is under pressure to deliver Arsenal a new forward this winter amid injury concerns.

The Gunners welcomed five new faces in the summer transfer window, however, only one represented an attacking talent.

Raheem Sterling arrived on deadline day to bolster Arteta’s options on the wing although, it seems the Arsenal manager doesn’t wholly trust the Chelsea loanee.

Now, the race is on in the January market for the Spaniard to right his wrongs of the summer, with Arsenal linked to several transfers.

Tottenham discuss Randal Kolo Muani signing amid Arsenal links

Fans wanted a striker in the summer; however, Arteta’s priority has surely shifted to a new winger.

A goal-scorer in general is required to cover Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury, leading to several links early into the window.

Matheus Cunha is a player Arsenal admire although, the Brazilian looks set to stay put at Wolves, prompting Arteta to look at other options.

Rumours have speculated that Arsenal have been offered Randal Kolo Muani, whom Paris Saint-Germain want to offload on a loan with an obligation to buy deal.

Fresh reports from journalist Ben Jacobs cite Tottenham’s interest in the forward, stating that Arsenal’s rivals ‘have discussed’ Kolo Muani. 

While Spurs have ‘yet to make an approach’ for the player, other teams are in line, with several Premier League sides also eyeing Kolo Muani.

The French striker, who signed for PSG for £76m in 2023, could be an option for the Gunners but, a decision will have to be made sooner rather than later.

Arsenal need more than Kolo Muani

While Kolo Muani is a goalscorer by nature, having impressed in the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt, the 26-year-old’s scoring streak hasn’t translated in Paris.

This season, the forward has only made two starts in Ligue 1 for PSG, totalling 10 appearances and scoring twice in the French top tier. 

Given Arsenal’s injury situation, and the demand to remain on Liverpool’s tail in the title race, a striker ready to be discarded by PSG might not cut it considering the need for quick results.

For now, it looks likely that Spurs or another club will hope to make the France international their number nine, with Arsenal’s stance on the player unknown.
