Arsenal are set for an unprecedented summer transfer window as they continue to freshen Mikel Arteta’s options.

Martin Zubimendi joined Arsenal and is set to be joined by five other signings ahead of the club’s pre-season tour to Asia.

Andrea Berta has shown a decisive nature to the window and is now finalising deals for Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke to join the revolution at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s focus will shift to player sales once their incoming business has been completed but there is scope for one more big-name addition. Fans have just been told who it is likely to be.

Arsenal are closer to signing Eberechi Eze than Rodrygo

According to journalist Dean Jones, the Gunners are ‘closer’ to signing Eberechi Eze than they are to Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

Arsenal hold interest in both players as they bid to add further firepower to their attacking options and Jones believes the Palace man is more likely to end up in North London.

Jones stated: “Let’s see what happens with the last one. If I was to guess right now, I’d say Eze has the edge over Rodrygo in becoming that signing.

“But either way, if it’s one of the two, it doesn’t really matter. You’re definitely leveling up as to what you have within your armoury to go on and try to win the Premier League.”

Ian Wright has called Eze ‘unplayable’ in the past and there has been talk that Crystal Palace could consider a swap deal involving Leandro Trossard.

If Berta can make one more addition to the brilliant business he has already secured, Arteta will be licking his lips at the prospect of the next campaign.

How Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo compared last season

Supporters will have their own opinion over who they would prefer Arsenal to sign this summer but the fact is either player would add real quality and value to the squad.

Eze holds a wealth of Premier League experience but Rodrygo has proven himself to be a superstar on the world stage.

Liverpool are also interested in Rodrygo and it is clear that both players can bring that magic to unlock stubborn defences.

That is something that Arteta’s side struggled to deal with last season, whether it is Eze’s creativity and ball striking or Rodrygo’s trickery, the Gunners need that something different to fire them to the title.
