Joshua Kimmich is seriously considering a switch to the Premier League, with Arsenal among the clubs that have been informed of the midfielder’s situation, Arsenal Insider sources understand.

The German is enjoying an exceptional tenth season at Bayern Munich, but is expected to depart the Bundesliga club at the end of the campaign when his contract expires.

Arsenal are interested in Kimmich, who they view as a potential replacement for Jorginho.

Jorginho is expected to join Flamengo in the summer, while Thomas Partey is also likely to leave the club when his deal is up.

This will leave the Gunners short of midfield options heading into next season, prompting rumours linking the North Londoners with several players across Europe.

Joshua Kimmich’s stance on Arsenal transfer

Martin Zubimendi is expected to arrive at Arsenal in the summer for £51 million, with the Spaniard likely to form a midfield trio with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

However, the Real Sociedad man’s move is yet to be confirmed, and even with him, Mikel Arteta may feel he needs one more to replace the departing veteran midfielders.

Reports that Arsenal are considering Kimmich as an option emerged on Friday morning, and TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey confirmed that the Gunners have been made aware of the player’s situation.

“Arsenal are one of the clubs to have been informed of Kimmich’s situation,” he told Arsenal Insider.

“Bayern have withdrawn their previous offer but they are not completely discounted.

“Kimmich is taking his time but a move to England is something he is seriously considering, we know Liverpool and Manchester City are paying close attention and he has a good relationship with Pep Guardiola, so keep an eye on that.

“Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also interested, so there are plenty of sides looking at Kimmich – still only 30, he could be a remarkable pick up for someone on a free transfer.”

It remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal could convince Kimmich to ply his trade in N5, although Bailey’s words indicate that there is certainly a level of interest from the 30-year-old in a move to English football.

Profile wise, Kimmich is everything you’d want from a midfielder deployed next to Rice and Odegaard.
