Hale End graduate Reiss Nelson could leave Arsenal and rejoin Fulham this summer, sources close to Arsenal Insider understand.
Nelson’s future is uncertain, particularly after an injury-tainted 2024/25 campaign.
The winger signed for Fulham, and all the while, it was hoped back in North London that the Arsenal academy graduate would impress.
Though Marco Silva loved Nelson, the 25-year-old barely had the room to show his potential, as his season ended with the need for surgery.

Reiss Nelson to Fulham transfer possible
Nelson underwent surgery in February and didn’t feature for the Cottagers again, returning to Arsenal following his unfulfilled loan period.
It’s set to be a decisive summer for the forward, whose future is very much up in the air as Mikel Arteta continues to look for reinforcements to bolster his attack.
It comes as no surprise to learn that Nelson is attracting transfer interest around the Premier League as he searches for a fresh opportunity, with Bournemouth showing their admiration.
While the Cherries would love to sign the 25-year-old, there’s another club in the fold.
Speaking to Arsenal Insider, TBR’s Graeme Bailey admitted that there’s a ‘fair chance’ that Nelson returns to Fulham.
“Reiss Nelson, I think there’s a fair chance he goes back to Fulham, from what I understand.”
The transfer expert explained that a deal could be a loan with an option for a permanent switch, with a ‘ballpark’ figure outlined.
“Clearly he’s a talent. Overall, I think it depends on what deal it is, whether it’s a loan with options. I think overall, possibly yes, [Arsenal could get £20m], he’s in that ballpark.”
It’s become clear that Edu Gaspar’s decision to tie Nelson to a new contract was a master stroke, as the Gunners could make an eight-figure profit on their academy graduate.
Nelson’s injury history is a problem
Nelson extending his stay at Arsenal was encouraging, but unfortunately for the player, nothing has changed.
The Hale End product is still far away from being considered as a player on the cusp of being a regular at Arsenal, with his injury record not doing him any favours.
| Season | Days missed | Injuries | Games missed |
| 2018/19 | 26 | 2 | 4 |
| 2019/20 | 97 | 2 | 20 |
| 2020/21 | 66 | 2 | 16 |
| 2021/22 | 70 | 4 | 12 |
| 2022/23 | 110 | 2 | 17 |
| 2024/25 | 178 | 1 | 28 |
| Total | 547 | 13 | 97 |
Nelson has had a dire time on the injury front, which has largely shaped the direction that his Arsenal career has travelled in.
Since spreading his wings from the comforts of Hale End, the winger has missed 97 matches due to injury, severely impacting his ability to develop and prove his worth to Arteta.
It would be uplifting to see Nelson move on to another club where he can fulfil his potential, with his future unlikely to be at Arsenal.
