Arsenal have been linked with a number of strikers this month and Lille star Jonathan David is one of them.

The Canadian, who only joined Lille in 2020, has been absolutely incredible for them. After helping Les Dogues win the Ligue 1 last season, David has already scored 16 times in all competitions this campaign.

It’s only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club and Edu Gaspar reportedly held a meeting with his agent about a month ago to discuss a potential transfer. (Football London)

Video: Alphonso Davies’ brilliant reaction as Arsenal-linked Jonathan David scores a stunner

David has not just been brilliant at Lille, he’s firing for Canada as well.

The 22-year-old started for his country in their World Cup qualifier against Honduras yesterday. Canada picked up a comfortable 2-0 win and David scored a stunning goal.

Bayern Munich defender and fellow Canadian Alphonso Davies, who sadly missed the game due to health issues, reacted to David’s sublime strike live, and both the goal as well as the reaction is definitely worth a watch.

Here’s a look at David’s goal and Davies’ brilliant reaction below.

David would be brilliant at Arsenal

It is clear that Arsenal are looking for a big centre-forward who can hold the ball up and be a threat in the air. David is not that type of player at all, but he’s still someone we should look at.

The Canadian, still only 22, is similar to Lacazette in a way. He’s strong, can drop deep and link play up like the Frenchman, but what makes him a better option is that he’s rapid and can carry the ball from one end of the pitch to the other all on his own.

David is incredibly composed in front of goal as well. He averages a goal every 136 minutes in Ligue 1 this season, which is a better record than the French top-flight’s three biggest stars – Lionel Messi (892), Neymar (277) and Kylian Mbappe (169).

If Arsenal cannot get deals for Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Alexander Isak over the line, David should be considered before the window shuts on Monday.
