After Arsenal missed out on Dusan Vlahovic, the Gunners reportedly turned their attention to Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.
Juventus completed a deal to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina for an eye-watering £62.8 million this week (Sky Sports). Arsenal were ready to pay that fee for the Serbian, but he had his heart set on a move to Turin.
That has left Arsenal in a really difficult position ahead of Monday’s deadline. We are desperately looking for a new number nine and Isak may just be our man.

Alexander Isak spotted in London amid Arsenal links
This isn’t the first time that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Isak.
The Swede was reportedly one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets in the summer, but we didn’t make a move for him as we couldn’t get one of Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah out of the door.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang banished from the first team and Nketiah set to join Newcastle, Isak has become an option again now. A move has always looked unlikely, but the Swede has been spotted in London today, and that has added more fuel to all the rumours.
Here’s Isak posing with his Real Sociedad teammate and former Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj in London.
The Insider’s View:
Alexander Isak being spotted in London is really exciting for Arsenal fans amid all the rumours but it doesn’t really mean anything, does it? There’s a break in football at the moment and he may just be in the capital as a tourist.
However, if he really is in London for Arsenal, he would be a sensational signing.
Isak has been excellent in La Liga since he joined Sociedad. He formed a stunning partnership with current Arsenal star Martin Odegaard there a few years ago as well. He would be excellent for us, but his price is a big issue.
When Isak signed a new contract back in July last year, El Desmarque revealed that his new release clause is as high as £74.8 million (€90 million). Arsenal can still negotiate a lower fee with Sociedad to get a deal done, but with just two days left in the window, it is extremely unlikely.
