Alan Shearer has just suggested four new strikers for Arsenal other than Alexander Isak

Arsenal are in big need of a new striker in the winter transfer window.

The Gunners are one of the best teams in the world when everybody is fit. On their day, they are capable of beating any club and have shown their quality over the last two seasons.

However, Bukayo Saka is out injured at the moment, while Gabriel Jesus will not play again this season after suffering a ruptured ACL.

That leaves them really short of options in attack, which is why Arsenal fans are begging Mikel Arteta to dive into the market for a new number nine.

Alan Shearer says Alexander Isak to Arsenal is impossible but suggests four other strikers

Alexander Isak would be the dream signing for Arsenal.

The Swede has been incredible for Newcastle United this season and has all the qualities to succeed in Mikel Arteta’s system.

Isak is the best striker in the Premier League right now and would be perfect for Arsenal. But, Alan Shearer thinks a move to the Emirates is impossible.

The legendary English striker has suggested four other names for the North Londoners, and they are all solid options for Arteta.

When Micah Richards said there are many options on the market, Shearer replied on the Rest is Football podcast: “Well, there is. What is there? We just mentioned one before, didn’t we?

“We’ve got Jonathan David, (Benjamin) Sesko, (Victor) Osimhen. (Liam) Delap possibly.

“Don’t even mention another one (Isak) because there’s no chance he’s leaving Newcastle. No one can afford him. They can’t afford him because of the rules. I genuinely believe that.”

Isak would’ve been ideal, but we agree with Shearer here – we just don’t think Arsenal will be able to afford him in this window.

The Gunners have to look elsewhere, and the four names Shearer suggested are not bad options at all.

As the numbers show above, all of Shearer’s suggestions are good options, and we’re sure Arsenal fans will be happy with any of them this month.

However, Benjamin Sesko will cost ‘crazy money’ in this window, as will Victor Osimhen. On the other hand, we can’t see Ipswich allowing Delap to leave when they’re in the middle of a relegation battle.

David has entered the final six months of his contract. That makes him a good option, but whether Arsenal would be ready to pay a fee now for someone who will be available for nothing in the summer remains to be seen.
