Arsenal starlet Mika Biereth thrived out on loan in the first half of the season, before changing clubs.
Biereth spent the first half of the campaign at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, where he notched up 11 goals and assists in 15 appearances before Arsenal recalled him in the January transfer window.
He then moved on loan to Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz, and scored on his first appearance in a friendly as he awaits his competitive debut.
Whilst Motherwell were disappointed that they lost a key player, Biereth has now explained that it was easy for him to make the move despite enjoying his time at the Scottish side.
Mika Biereth explains decision to end Motherwell loan before Sturm Graz move
Speaking to Danish outlet TipsBladet, Biereth revealed that the different style of play at Sturm Graz was a key reason behind his move.
“From a selfish point of view from that an easy decision,” he stated.
“Sturm Graz are at the top of the league, so they are in a better situation, and more matches are won and more chances are created, and I would like to see if I can contribute to that.
“They weren’t particularly surprised at Motherwell when I announced that I wanted to leave them, and they often asked me in the transfer window if I was going anywhere.
“They were all happy that I could take the next step in my career, and I really had a good time at the club,” he added.
A different style of play will suit Biereth’s development

Biereth has explained that playing in a more attacking system at Sturm Graz will aid his development better than staying at Motherwell for the rest of the season would have.
“It has been a really good start in Sturm Graz, and all the boys seem cool. I settled in quickly and there is nothing to complain about,” Biereth stated.
“I definitely think that the level is higher here when compared to Motherwell.
“They are also two different types of playing style, because in Motherwell we played very defensively without many chances, and in Sturm Graz it goes a lot forward and a lot of chances are created. It can only be good for me.”
“It is of course more difficult to score when you play for a team at the bottom of the table, where I probably get many more chances to score goals here.”
Biereth is at the club where fellow Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund developed well in a loan spell, and if the 1.87m striker can continue his good form in front of goal in the next few months, he could give Mikel Arteta something to think about over a potential future at Arsenal.
