Arsenal could now have ‘excellent’ star back for Nottingham Forest clash on Sunday

Arsenal have been handed a significant injury boost ahead of their game against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners entertain a Forest side rocked by a turbulent couple of weeks, with the East Midlanders sacking Nuno Espirito Santo and replacing him with Ange Postecoglou over the international break.

Postecoglou was appointed earlier this week and returns to North London in his first game back in the Premier League, hoping to claim his first victory over Mikel Arteta as a manager.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back after they suffered a disappointing defeat away at Anfield in their last match.

Ben White back in Arsenal training before Nottingham Forest clash

Arsenal have had their fair share of injuries already this campaign.

Kai Havertz will be out until November with a knee issue, while Bukayo Saka and William Saliba are both currently recovering from setbacks sustained in the last two matches.

Meanwhile, Ben White hasn’t featured since the opening game against Manchester United, in which he was forced off in the 70th minute with an unspecified injury.

It was reported earlier this week that White could return this weekend for the visit of Forest, and the Gunners faithful have now been handed another positive indication that this could be the case.

As spotted by journalist Charles Watts on X, the full-back appeared to be in Arsenal training on Thursday morning, with the Sky Sports News cameras picking him up.

Watts added that it looks as though those who had been on international duty were all back and involved.

White has been described as ‘excellent’ in the past, so Arteta will no doubt be delighted to have the Englishman back in the fold and available for selection.

Christian Norgaard has also returned to training

White wasn’t the only Arsenal player who made his return to the Sohba Reality training ground this week.

Christian Norgaard was also spotted in Arteta’s session on Thursday morning.

Arsenal signed Norgaard from Brentford for £15 million in the summer, but the Dane has yet to make his debut for the North London club.

The 31-year-old has been suffering from an injury since the pre-season clash against Villarreal, which has forced Arteta to use Martin Zubimendi in every minute of every game so far.

The Arsenal boss may now be able to manage Zubimendi’s minutes, with Norgaard capable of coming in and making his debut if needed against Forest on Saturday or Athletic Club in midweek.
