Arsenal fans have made their thoughts known on social media after the latest Deadline Day update.

Heading into Deadline Day, there was a sense of optimism that Edu and Mikel Arteta would surprise many with a new signing.

While movement has happened today, with Neto expected to sign and Aaron Ramsdale joining Southampton, there’s still no clarity on what the club plans to do next.

There is still plenty of time remaining for the tides to turn at Arsenal before tonight’s deadline however, the latest update has left fans with little belief.

Edu has quickly gone from a figure that held all hope to a villain at the Emirates, as supporters were dealt some worrying news.

Arsenal fans react to worrying Deadline Day update

On the afternoon of Deadline Day, The Athletic reported that while Arsenal have enquired about Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley, it’s unlikely that a deal will be struck before the deadline.

Following the update on the shot-stopper came a sentence that no fan wanted to read, which said, “No further incoming business is expected.”

Aside from 35-year-old Neto’s pending arrival, it seems as though no other new faces will be welcomed to North London this summer, which fans did not take well.

“Absolutely shambolic. 1 attacking injury away from disaster,” one supporter said in reaction to the news.

Others began to pile the blame on Edu with many fuming at Arsenal’s lack of activity this summer as the Gunners aim to close the gap on Manchester City.

“I’m fine blaming Edu for this summer. Loaning in a cup-tied GK and no offensive signings screams a lack of an overall plan for the window.”

“Edu pack your bags nowwwww,” one fan said, to which another shared such frustration, “Our deadline day signing was a 35-year-old goalkeeper Edu I will come for you.”

Another supporter took to X to say, “We had to nail this transfer window. We have done a profit but weakened the team. C’mon Edu. You cannot seriously think we have enough depth.”

One fan even questioned if Edu understood what day it was, “Does Edu know it’s deadline day?”

Other supporters were forced to reminisce about previous transfer windows, “Haven’t experienced this feeling since the Wenger days, to be honest.”

“Edu said we wouldn’t be disappointed. Bro has disappointed every transfer window,” and “Edu please, just something so that I don’t have to write “Season over” if Saka gets injured.”

The frustration was valid as a result of Arsenal’s lack of presence throughout the summer, with only three signings made so far.

One capture was David Raya’s permanent transfer, with Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino making the numbers up.

Edu has a lot to answer for if Arsenal don’t compete for the title

Fans will hold out hope that a moment like Mesut Ozil’s Deadline Day arrival will be replicated however, right now that seems like a dream.

It’s frustrating considering the progress that Arsenal have achieved on the pitch, with the presence in the transfer window needing to follow suit.

Instead, fans have been left short and concerned about the lack of depth, particularly in forward positions as the Gunners failed to identify a new attacker once again.

Only time will tell if Edu can redeem himself before tonight, with a huge surprise needed to get the supporters back on his side.
