The summer transfer window in England is set to close in a matter of hours.

Arsenal have been active so far in this Transfer Deadline Day.

Veteran goalkeeper Neto is set to join Arsenal. The Brazilian shot-stopper is being brought in to replace the Southampton-bound Aaron Ramsdale and provide back up for David Raya.

On top of that, Arsenal are discussing a swoop for Raheem Sterling, with Mikel Arteta having been handed the chance to add the Chelsea outcast to his ranks.

However, as things stand, there is no sign of the North London club adding a new striker to their squad.

The Gunners have been linked with a plethora of goalscorers in this transfer window. Back at the start of the window, Arsenal were rejected by Benjamin Sesko. Since then, they have been credited with an interest in the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, and Viktor Gyokeres, amongst many others.

Arsenal must change striker transfer plans

With Eddie Nketiah set to join Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s options in this part of the pitch are set to become even more depleted.

As things stand, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will be duking it out for the right to lead the line for Arteta’s side this season.

However, Jesus is currently injured. Even if the Brazilian is only sidelined for a brief period, his fitness record indicates that he can’t be relied upon to remain available for an extended period.

On top of that, Havertz or the former Manchester City man are not the most clinical finishers. Jesus has promised to become more prolific, but it is hard to imagine that the 27-year-old will be able to make huge strides forward in this regard.

Arsenal lack depth and cutting edge up front, which could prove devastating to their title-winning ambitions.

Gary Neville has tipped Arsenal to become champions this season, but if they are to topple Manchester City off their perch they will need someone to score the goals required.

Which striker should Arsenal sign?

Toney looks set to join Al-Ahli, which likely takes him off the table as an option that Arsenal can consider.

Osimhen has been linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia too.

Gyokeres has been called a dream signing for Arsenal, though, and his arrival would represent a real statement of intent from the Gunners.

The Swedish striker was prolific for Sporting last season, netting 43 times in 50 appearances, across all competitions, as he fired the Portuguese side to league title glory. He has begun the new campaign in blistering form too, scoring 6 goals in the first 3 games of the league season.
