Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth has attracted a lot of attention for his performances this season, and he is continuing to flourish.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Motherwell, before Arsenal recalled him from the Scottish side in January.

Arsenal then chose to send him to Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz, who are currently second in the table, just two points behind RB Salzburg at the halfway point.

Biereth has traded in a mid-table campaign for a title challenge, and whilst Motherwell were disappointed that they lost him, he recently claimed that playing in a more attacking style will benefit his development.

Mika Biereth scores on official Sturm Graz debut

Sturm Graz were enjoying their mid-season break when Biereth arrived, and he recently scored on his first appearance for the club in a friendly against Ukrainian side SC-Dnipro.

However, he made his official debut for the club yesterday, as Sturm Graz took on Austria Vienna in the Austrian Cup quarter-final.

His side took an early lead through Tomi Horvat, and in the closing stages of the first half, Biereth doubled their tally to secure their place in the semi-finals.

Biereth showed why he is such a highly-rated talent with a remarkable finish. The ball fell to him in the penalty box and bounced before he unleashed a fierce first-time volley which powered beyond the goalkeeper into the back of the net.

Arsenal goalkeeping prospect Arthur Okonkwo is currently on loan at Wrexham, but he spent some time at Sturm Graz last season.

It was at Biereth’s current club that Okonkwo won the Austrian Cup, an impressive feat given his age and relative inexperience.

Biereth is set to make his league debut next Friday away at RB Salzburg in a huge game in the title race, and is waiting to see who his side will face in the next round of the cup. If Sturm Graz retain their trophy, then Biereth will already have played a huge part.

The Danish youngster is also competing in the Europa Conference League, with a knockout tie against Slovan Bratislava coming up, and he will get his chance to make a mark on the continental stage.

Should his loan go well, then Arsenal could have a valuable striking asset on their hands, but he did recently admit that his dream of succeeding at the Emirates will not be an easy one, with the club expected to sign a forward in the summer.
