Arsenal are set to face Crystal Palace in their latest Premier League encounter.

The Gunners are fresh off the back of a convincing 4-0 win over Ipswich where fans were impressed with Oleksandr Zinchenko’s performance from left back.

Mikel Arteta will use the game to further rotate his Arsenal squad and ensure everyone is in top condition for the Champions League semi-final first leg against PSG at the Emirates Stadium.

One player that will not feature is Jorginho following a rib injury sustained against Brentford and the Gunners boss has given a worrying update on his condition.

Mikel Arteta gives Jorginho fitness update

Arteta said Saka is fine following a nasty knock against Ipswich but speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace, it is bad news for team mate Jorginho.

The Gunners boss was asked whether Jorginho would play again this season and gave a response that won’t fill supporters with hope.

Arteta stated: “I hope so, but I am not certain so we have to see how he evolves in the next few days, I would say few weeks. The doctor was quite cautious about talking about any dates. Good news is he’s improving, he’s feeling much better. It was quite a scary situation and he’s in a good place now.”

Jorginho is linked with Flamengo in the summer given that his contract expires in June and if the injury does keep him out for the season, the Brentford clash could have been his last at the club.

Jorginho’s Arsenal career

Signed from Chelsea in January 2023, many supporters were sceptical over the signing of Jorginho but ever since his last gasp winner at Villa Park in a dramatic 4-2 win in February 2023, he has been a wonderful servant for the club.

Some believe Jorginho improves Arsenal with his creativity and intelligence in the middle of the park but his impact in North London cannot be denied since his arrival.

Arteta has relied on the Italian international to fill in midfield whenever needed and he has never let his manager down with some exceptional performances.

Should it be the last time that Jorginho is seen in the red and white shirt, Arsenal supporters will wish him well with his future and remember his time at the club fondly.
