Cristhian Mosquera looks to be another top signing from Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta, and the defender has been discussing his move to Arsenal.
Over the summer, Arsenal signed Mosquera for £15 million from Valencia, adding yet another talented defender to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Spanish defender is having to be patient in waiting for his chance to play at the Emirates Stadium, although Gabriel Magalhaes’ recent groin injury could mean he finally gets a run in the team.
He has now been speaking about his move to the North London club and the role Arteta played in helping convince him to join.

Cristhian Mosquera was so impressed by Mikel Arteta at Arsenal
Cristhian Mosquera was told that Mikel Arteta would impress him when they first met, and that’s exactly what happened just before he signed for Arsenal.
Arsenal fans loved Mosquera’s debut away at Liverpool as the defender seamlessly slotted in at the back for the Gunners following an early injury to William Saliba.
His display at Anfield was a testament to his ability, as he was unexpectedly called upon to face the defending Premier League champions, and he stepped up.
The Spanish defender has also revealed how he grew up supporting the Gunners, so making the switch from Spain to England was an easy decision for him.
Speaking to the Guardian, the defender said: “In fact, my team was Arsenal. The players, the shirt. I saw them as a bit different: they had something, an aura.
“Before I had decided, someone in my camp said: ‘The moment you speak to Mikel, there’s no way he won’t convince you.’ And that’s exactly how it happened. When the call finished, my destination couldn’t have been clearer.”
“He really lives for football; he was raised on it, experienced everything. You see that when he talks. He loves the detail, sees things other eyes might not.
“I’m so happy with him. He’s an incredible person, and he’s helping me a lot. The staff have made it easy. Arsenal is an incredible club.”
Mikel Arteta must select Cristhian Mosquera to replace Gabriel Magalhaes
Arteta faces a simple selection dilemma as Mosquera is the obvious candidate to replace the injured Gabriel.
The Spaniard has already shown he is good enough to slot straight into Arsenal’s back line and capable of rising to the occasion.
| Player | Age |
| Cristhian Mosquera | 21 |
| Riccardo Calafiori | 23 |
| Piero Hincapie | 23 |
| Jurrien Timber | 24 |
Piero Hincapie is the other option Arteta could use, although the Ecuadorian international has played just 170 minutes for the Gunners so far.
It would be quite an ask to hand him his first Premier League start in the North London derby; therefore, Mosquera feels the best option.
