Arsenal could spring a surprise or two this summer in terms of departures from their squad.

Andrea Berta is understood to be targeting three attacking players this summer, as Arsenal fans express their concerns over Eberechi Eze coming into the club as a left winger.

Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are on the club’s radar in their search for a striker, whilst Mikel Arteta would love to bring Rodrygo to the Emirates Stadium.

However, should the Gunners complete these deals, there are likely to have to be one or two big-name departures. Bayern Munich want Gabriel Martinelli and the Brazilian himself once complimented another Arsenal star that could be one of the candidates to be sold this summer.

Gabriel Martinelli labelled Ben White a ‘warrior’ that every team needs

Ben White endured a frustrating campaign during the 2024-25 season with knee surgery hampering his fitness and form.

White’s future at Arsenal is uncertain after failing to dislodge Jurrien Timber from the right back spot upon return from surgery towards the end of the campaign.

As per the Metro, Martinelli is a big fan of the England international and after White signed a new contract back in March 2024, the winger told Arsenal’s social media account the defender was a ‘warrior’.

When asked his thoughts on White, Martinelli wrote: “Every team would love to have a Ben White in the team. He’s a warrior.”

Arteta will be hoping that with a solid pre-season behind him, the 27-year-old can rediscover his magnificent form from before his knee surgery and become a key component of the club’s success once again.

Jurrien Timber and Ben White competition is ideal for Mikel Arteta

Timber played through injury last season and the Dutch international is currently recovering from ankle surgery himself ahead of the new campaign.

With both White and Timber having had surgery recently, Arteta would be wise to rotate both of his full backs on a game by game basis.

Both are fantastic defenders and comfortable playing alongside William Saliba in the right channel but both offer different dynamics going forward.

Timber is the best one v one defender at the club, perhaps even the world at this moment in time and is comfortable drifting centrally to pick up the ball.

White on the other hand is a master at marauding down the right flank and overlapping Bukayo Saka to get in a crossing position for himself or open up space for the winger.

Either way, Arteta has two world-class right backs and to win a trophy next season, both are going to be key to his plans.
