Gary Lineker has shared his honest thoughts about Arsenal following the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Club Brugge.
Arsenal’s incredible record in this season’s Champions League was extended in Belgium on matchday six, making it six wins from six.
Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli scored tremendous goals on a night that meant far more than just a routine win in Europe.
It was crucial that the Gunners rebuilt their confidence following the agonising late defeat to Aston Villa, a result that switched how Mikel Arteta’s side were perceived in the media.

Gary Lineker doesn’t agree with doubtful comments about Arsenal
Jamie Carragher slammed Arsenal’s reaction to the defeat at Villa Park, saying that it was ‘telling’ of how much the players are thinking about the title race.
The reaction when Arsenal lost only their second game of the season spoke volumes, and it’s fair to say Gary Lineker isn’t a fan of what’s being said.
Is Noni Madueke right? Can Arsenal complete a Premier League and Champions League double?
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast after the win over Club Brugge, Lineker made it clear that he’s not buying into any doubts about Arsenal’s quality.
“Anyone can lose at Villa, and the way they lost in the last minute, that sort of thing will happen,” he said.
“People are saying ‘ooo are Arsenal starting to dip?’ and I just don’t buy it. You’re going to lose the odd game in the season, I think they’re looking pretty damn good.”
Lineker is always impartial when speaking about Arteta’s squad, with his comment after the Champions League win being a breath of fresh air.
Interestingly, Gary Neville shared a similar view about Arsenal, calling for no panic after the Villa defeat, but not everyone spoke as level-headedly.
Lineker showed Paul Scholes up with his comment
The defeat to Villa gave Paul Scholes an incentive to go public with his view that Arsenal have no chance of winning the Premier League if they don’t improve their record in big games.
It was an odd comment, and one that Arsenal fans didn’t take well at all, with his take being made to look rather petulant in comparison to Lineker’s view.
Where do you stand on Paul Scholes’ comments, are they fair?
As Lineker suggested, one result doesn’t by any means undermine Arsenal’s form this season and how suited the Gunners are to claim the Premier League title.
To Scholes, Arsenal’s future chances of winning the Premier League were wiped out by Emiliano Buendia’s winner, doubting Arteta’s record in big games.
Having lost just two games all season, Scholes might be alone on this one, but fortunately, not every figure has passed comment without context.
