Jamie Carragher claims winger linked to Arsenal has been better than Bukayo Saka this season

Jamie Carragher has omitted Bukayo Saka from his Premier League Team of the Season so far and picked another winger instead, who Arsenal really like.

That player was Antoine Semenyo, whose form looks set to earn him a big Premier League move during the January transfer window.

Prove me wrong: Signing Antoine Semenyo in January hands Arsenal the Premier League title.

At times this season, Saka has carried Arsenal’s attack and once again been a key reason as to why the Gunners will head into Christmas top of the table.

Therefore, Carragher’s call to leave him out of his Team of the Season will rightfully upset many Arsenal fans.

The 24-year-old wasn’t the only Arsenal player who was missing from the former Liverpool defender’s team, with Jurrien Timber and David Raya also being left out.

Jamie Carragher picks Antoine Semenyo and Morgan Rogers over Bukayo Saka

Jamie Carragher has picked Semenyo and Morgan Rogers over Bukayo Saka for his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

Arsenal have been linked with Semenyo, given the fact that Andrea Berta still wants to sign another attacker in the New Year.

However, Arsenal have decided against moving for Semenyo in January, given Leandro Trossard, Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Martinelli have all been performing very well.

Speaking about his Team of the Season, Carragher told Sky Sports: “Morgan Rogers is on that left side. It was interesting looking at Rogers and Semenyo.

We want to know who makes YOUR Premier League Team of the Season so far. 👇

“They’ve both had brilliant seasons, but I don’t think there’s an abundance of wide players who were coming to mind.

“I think Doku has been really good. Phil Foden as well. But I think, Rogers, certainly of late, is probably the most in-form player in the Premier League.

“Semenyo, who has probably gone off the boil a little bit in the last few weeks. There’s a lot of talk about him moving on, but in the last few games, he’s got a couple of goals as well. He made a brilliant start to his Premier League season as well.”

Saka will certainly feel aggrieved not to have made Carragher’s Team of the Season, especially given his recent form for the Gunners.

Jamie Carragher thinks Daniel Munoz has been better than Jurrien Timber

Another controversial pick from Carragher was suggesting that Daniel Munoz has been better than Timber this season.

Timber has been exceptional for Arsenal this term; however, the ex-Premier League defender has picked Palace’s right back ahead of him.

“I mean, I would say the right-back position was probably the most difficult. I was really close to putting Timber in, who I’m a huge fan of.

“Reece James has also been outstanding, but he’s played a lot of his football in central midfield. But every time I watch this guy (Munoz), he’s been a big part of a really strong defensive unit. I think he’s got three goals, a couple of assists as well. So, I think he’s fantastic, Munoz.”
