Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to make some big signings in the transfer window, believing the club are just a few players away from winning some trophies.
It comes shortly after the Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League, with PSG beating Arsenal in the semi-final of the competition.
For Mikel Arteta, it means another season without a trophy, having last won a competition back in 2020.
While the years since have paved the way for Arsenal to rebuild, they will feel as though those efforts haven’t been rewarded with the silverware to show for it.
Plenty of fine margins have decided things for the north London outfit, something that can be fixed in the summer transfer window.

Ian Wright hopes for some big Arsenal transfer business under Andrea Berta
With Arsenal now out of the Champions League, plenty of dissection into the season and where it went wrong is underway.
The diagnosis of those problems will be key in finding a solution, with the backing of the Arsenal owners, along with the expertise of sporting director Andrea Berta, an important part of fixing it in the summer transfer window.
While there are questions about who could come in, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has given the greenlight to both the owners and the sporting director to make some big signings.
Speaking on Wrighty’s House, he said: “I’m hoping Andrea Berta has got his book out,” he said when previewing the summer business.
“And he’s ready to go because, like I say, we’re three, four players away from winning the league and winning the Champions League.”
It shows a clear desire for Arsenal to invest in the squad at a time when it feels they are on the cusp of achieving something.
Arsenal Insider understands that Arsenal are looking at a striker, a winger, a midfielder, and a backup goalkeeper as their priority targets for this summer.
It remains to be seen exactly how much the Kroenkes will put in, as well as who Berta could sign, but there remains a huge challenge ahead.

Ian Wright is happy with Andrea Berta’s appointment as Arsenal’s sporting director
With this summer being such an important one for Arsenal, it will be an interesting test for Berta in his first transfer window.
The sporting director has an impressive record when signing strikers at a time when scoring goals has been at a premium for the Gunners.

Berta’s appointment has been met with some praise by Ian Wright, who discussed the decision to land the Italian director.
He added on Wrighty’s House: “I’m glad that he brought in Andrea Berta because he’s not a familiar voice in the dressing room, he’s somebody else.”
That freshness could be exactly what Arsenal need to inject into the squad as they look to progress beyond nearly winning.
