Arsenal are on the hunt for a new assistant manager.

Carlos Cuesta is set to join Parma as their new manager leaving a void on Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff ahead of the new season.

Cuesta was an influential figure at the Emirates Stadium and was loved by the players. Granit Xhaka predicted Cuesta would become a manager.

With attention turning to a replacement before Arsenal’s season opener at Old Trafford, Arteta has already made his feelings clear on a potential return for his former teammate Santi Cazorla.

Mikel Arteta’s stance on Santi Cazorla’s Arsenal return

Cazorla recently stunned fans with a free-kick to send his beloved Real Oviedo side into the Spanish La Liga 2 play-off final.

As per Sky Sports, Arteta has already opened the door for Cazorla to return to Arsenal by claiming: “There is room for his unbelievable energy and knowledge on his coaching staff.”

During a recent visit to England to witness Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Ipswich back in December, Cazorla himself did not rule out a return to the Gunners.

Cazorla called Arsenal his ‘home’ and spoke to Amazon Prime Sport over a future move back to North London.

He stated: “Why not? This is my home as well, I love this club, I love these people… I don’t know, I’ll have to think about that. Something in football for sure because it’s what I love but we’ll see in the future.”

Ethan Nwaneri could benefit from Santi Cazorla’s guidance

One player who would be licking his lips at the prospect of Cazorla’s return would be Hale End star Ethan Nwaneri.

Cazorla became a fan favourite at the Emirates with his ability to keep the ball in tight spaces and produce such an accurate range of passes.

Nwaneri wants to play in Martin Odegaard’s position after beginning his Gunners career on the right flank and Cazorla is the perfect mentor for the youngster.

If the club do decide Santi is the man to replace Cuesta, he will bring a wealth of Premier League experience and an intelligence the young players can learn and benefit from.
