Arsenal have held an open training session ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta’s side know that a win over Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium will secure Champions League football next season and slightly avenge their Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Eddie Howe’s side.

Kai Havertz is back in Arsenal training ahead of the clash whilst Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard were also spotted amid injury concerns.

Gabriel Martinelli limped out of the training session early, sparking fears that he may be absent for Arsenal this weekend. There was also a hint at a possible Hale End debutant within a training drill.

Michal Rosiak involved in Arsenal first-team training

Jurrien Timber missed Arsenal’s clash against Liverpool with injury amid concerns over the workload of the Dutch international this season.

Ben White deputised for Timber at Anfield but has struggled himself with injuries and fitness this season. The 27-year-old has frequently picked up niggles following his return from knee surgery back in November.

Michal Rosiak has impressed for Arsenal’s U21 side this campaign and was spotted playing at right-back in a drill during the open training session.

The Arsenal boss may be considering the academy product in the position should both Timber and White be struggling to make the game against the Magpies.

Michal Rosiak’s Arsenal record

Rosiak is yet to feature for the Arsenal first-team but the 19-year-old Polish defender has enjoyed another successful campaign at youth level.

Jack Wilshere is a big fan of Rosiak and the Polish Under-19 international is a talent over dead ball situations.

Stepping up to play in the Premier League would be a new challenge for Rosiak but one in which the youngster would relish.

If he is to make his debut against Newcastle, he would be up against one of the league’s most in-form attacks and would need help from the more experienced players around him.
