Myles Lewis-Skelly has had a quiet start to the new campaign with the defender yet to start a match for Arsenal.
Riccardo Calafiori has cemented his place in the left back spot for the opening two Premier League matches and produced a goal and two assists.
Lewis-Skelly signed a new contract at Arsenal in the summer and knows he may have to be patient to work his way into Mikel Arteta’s side once again.
Last season was an incredible breakthrough for the Hale End star and Lewis-Skelly has revealed that his idol growing up was actually a Manchester United midfielder.

Myles Lewis-Skelly reveals he idolised Paul Pogba as a youngster
Speaking to Sky Sports alongside fellow academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly has revealed that his idol growing up was Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
As per BBC Sport, Pogba was described as a ‘fantastic player’ by former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic but endured a mixed time at Old Trafford – often criticised for attitude and commitment.
However, Lewis-Skelly was in awe of his ability growing up, he stated: “Paul Pogba, that was my guy, just everything, he was him for me.”
When asked if he thought Pogba was ‘underrated’ and ‘disrespected’, Lewis-Skelly’s answer was emphatic. He explained: “Of course, I could be here talking about my man for a long time.”
Arsenal signed their own version of Pogba by completing a deal to bring Eberechi Eze back to the club after releasing him as a 13-year-old from the academy.
It was a similar journey for Pogba at Manchester United and perhaps that is why he resonates so much with Lewis-Skelly.
Myles Lewis-Skelly could move into a Paul Pogba role this season at Arsenal
With the Gunners closing in on the signing of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen, Lewis-Skelly may see himself having more opportunities in midfield this season like his idol.
The 18-year-old came through the academy as a midfielder and has shown from left back his ability to invert into midfield.

Lewis-Skelly’s absence from the team has been a surprise to many at the start of the campaign, however Arteta will be carefully managing his development.
Behind the scenes, the Hale End star may be learning his trade in a new role, ready to be unleashed onto the Premier League in due course.
