Arsenal’s season opener doesn’t get much tougher as they face a trip to Old Trafford to play rivals Manchester United in a blockbuster start to the Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have new signings in the door and settled as Arsenal face a tough opening period to the new campaign.

Andrea Berta is busy trying to get those deals over the line however, Carlos Cuesta’s departure is a setback for the coaching staff and Thomas Partey looks set to leave Arsenal after turning down a new contract offer.

The first six fixtures set the tone for the season and the Gunners will want to prove they will be in the title mix once again, Arsenal Insider has predicted the outcome of a crucial start.

Predictions for Arsenal’s first six games of the 2025-26 season

Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

Manchester United’s recent decline has been so drastic that last season’s 1-1 draw there was seen as more dropped points in the race to catch Liverpool.

In truth, Declan Rice’s equaliser snatched a point for Arteta’s side at a ground where the Gunners have always found it challenging.

Ruben Amorim has arguably an even more crucial summer window ahead of him than Arsenal and his side have started with intent by securing the signing of Matheus Cunha.

Arsenal will be hoping to have two or three signings in the starting eleven but it may take a little time to get used to their surroundings. A point at Old Trafford would represent a solid start – Bukayo Saka will get off the mark early doors.

Arsenal 3-1 Leeds United

The Gunners will want a good performance during their first game at the Emirates Stadium and will get just that with an efficient 3-1 win.

Leeds will come into the game full of confidence after winning the Championship and like to play open and expansive football.

That will play into Arsenal’s hands however, with Gabriel Martinelli feasting on the space provided to him. The Brazilian will get off the mark for the season as Saka doubles his account.

There will also be a goal for Arsenal’s new striker signing – whoever that may be…

Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal

Anfield has always been Arsenal’s nemesis and last season’s 2-2 draw was probably one of their best performances away at Liverpool in recent years.

Martinelli and Mikel Merino helped the Gunners come from two goals down to earn an important point and were perhaps unfortunate not to grab all three as they dominated possession.

However, Arne Slot’s side had already wrapped up the league and will be a completely different beast for this huge encounter.

Arteta’s side may have to weather an early storm with new signing Florian Wirtz wanting to make an impact but Gabriel will snatch an equaliser from a set piece and Arsenal’s unbeaten start continues with an excellent point.

Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will be desperate to continue their partnership at the back as one of Europe’s most feared.

Nottingham Forest performed above all expectations last season and almost qualified for the Champions League before tailing off towards the end.

Forest will pose a considerable threat on the counter attack but the Gunners demonstrate that they can smother opponents and deny any space in behind.

Kai Havertz and Martinelli will be the goal scorers during a match that showcases Arsenal’s solidity in defence once again.

Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City

Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s side was the highlight of their domestic campaign last season but a repeat of that feat should not be expected.

City will be hurting after their disappointing campaign and have already attacked the market with some shrewd signings – Tijani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki among the names secured so far.

Erling Haaland’s ongoing battle with Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly will be something to keep an eye on but as for the game itself, it will be another tactical duel between two old friends.

Arsenal will just edge the game with a narrow victory as Martin Odegaard steps up in the big moment alongside his midfield partner Rice to maintain an unbeaten start.

Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal

Newcastle have a winning formula against Arteta’s side having beaten them in three out of four clashes last season, including comfortable victories in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Alexander Isak is the striker that Arsenal desperately want in North London but qualification for the Champions League means he likely stays on Tyneside for another campaign.

Arsenal are interested in Antony Gordon and which side he lines up for will be an interesting story to follow over the summer window.

This will be a huge marker as to how much Arteta and his team have developed. However, an all too familiar narrow defeat at St James’s Park could be on the cards to hand the Gunners their first defeat of the season.
