Arsenal produced a performance that clawed them right back into Premier League title contention with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal went into the game under some considerable pressure following back-to-back defeats and fell behind when a Heung-Ming Son strike deflected off William Saliba and flew past David Raya.
Mikel Arteta’s men dominated the game and got what they deserved when Gabriel Magalhaes caused confusion from a corner for Dominic Solanke to turn one into his own net before Leandro Trossard fired the winner just before half-time.
Thomas Partey received criticism from Arsenal fans on social media for his performance in the game however, it was a different story from those who were in the ground for the North London Derby.

Arsenal fans were full of praise for Thomas Partey
Despite being given a 5/10 in the Arsenal player ratings for the game against Spurs, I was at the ground and fans were full of praise for the performance for Arsenal midfielder Partey.
Despite appearing to be tracking back in a lazy manner for the counterattack that led to Tottenham Hotspur’s first goal, the view from many fans was that the Ghanaian midfielder held his position well throughout the game and was a constant thorn in Spurs trying to build attacks.

Partey won the ball high up the pitch led to Arsenal’s winning goal with a superb challenge on Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma and was always available to build and start attacks for the Gunners. One fan shouted: “That’s all come from you Thomas!” as the players celebrated the goal.
I vividly remember on two occasions Partey having the ball fired at him in a dangerous area from Raya and Lewis-Skelly and he seamlessly controlled the ball and moved Arsenal through the lines with his excellent technique and eye for a pass.
The midfielder was also warmly received by the Arsenal fans, as he applauded them walking off. Partey was seen gesturing to the fans to lift the atmosphere in the second half when Arsenal were under a short spell of pressure from the away side.
Partey has performed well in midfield for Arsenal this season
There has been lots of speculation surrounding Thomas Partey’s future at Arsenal with the midfielder out of contract at the end of the current season.
Arsenal are set to sign midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the summer and that could be a sign that Arsenal are willing to move Partey on. However, the Ghanaian has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers this season and his importance to the side was once again highlighted in the North London Derby.
The former Atletico Madrid man has struggled with injuries during his time at Arsenal but has made 30 appearances already this season and his versatility has also been key having played numerous times at right back.
Arsenal certainly look a more solid team when Partey is in the side and his vision and range of passing allow the side to play more progressively through the lines.
Gunners fans and boss Arteta will be hoping his form and availability continues as they attempt to end their five year trophy drought this season.
