Arsenal are entering the final stages of the January transfer window knowing that they need to strengthen in attacking areas.

Riccardo Calafiori’s late winner against Wolves kept Arsenal within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League but know that they need to match the firepower that Arne Slot’s side possess.

Arsenal have targetted Alexander Isak for a long time however, a move for the Newcastle striker is out of the question in this window.

Benjamin Sesko continues to be linked with Arsenal but again there is the feeling that the deal is near impossible to do in January. Arsenal therefore, have been exploring other options in the market.

Arsenal have contacted Aston Villa over Jhon Duran

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have enquired about Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in recent weeks in an attempt to bolster their forward line.

Romano claims on his YouTube channel that there have been no direct negotiations or bids as of yet between the two clubs with the Gunners just wanting information on the striker’s ‘situation.’

Evan Ferguson is another Arsenal target and is expected to leave Brighton on loan in the coming days. Arsenal would need to terminate the loans of either Neto or Raheem Sterling or sign one of them permanently to abide with Premier League loan rules.

Bayern Munich striker Matthys Tel has also been linked with a move away from the German club on loan and once again Arsenal are monitoring that situation.

Arsenal should sign Jhon Duran over Ferguson and Tel according to stats

It is no secret that Arsenal are looking for an out and out goalscorer to help the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli in order to share the burden.

Mikel Arteta’s side have wasted many opportunities in recent weeks and are crying out for a clinical finisher to put the many chances away that they are creating as a team.

Duran has come up with some clutch moments for his Aston Villa side this season and is the most clinical finisher of the targets that have been linked with the Gunners.

Duran’s pace and power would be a perfect foil for the guile and creativity that oozes from Arsenal’s current forward line, you get the feeling he would thrive in the centre forward position at the Emirates Stadium.

Whether he can be prized away from Aston Villa remains to be seen but the Colombian international would certainly be the best route for a title-chasing Arsenal to take.
