Arsenal must be alerted to one unfolding transfer situation in France as Mikel Arteta eyes attacking reinforcements.

There are two weeks to go until transfer deadline day, putting pressure on Arsenal to deliver the forwards that Arteta so desperately needs.

Arsenal have eight forwards on their shortlist however, the Gunners appear to be no closer to recruiting a player to bolster the attack.

Ian Wright pleaded for the board to support Arteta on the transfer front, with a now-or-never feeling surrounding the Arsenal squad with regard to the 2024/25 season.

Rayan Cherki has ‘verbal agreement’ over January transfer

While Arsenal have been linked to several players already this window, there’s still all the work to do to get a new recruit in.

The Gunners received a boost regarding Matheus Cunha as the player’s agent is making ‘noise’ about the chances his client could take this winter but, a move remains doubtful.

Benjamin Sesko also remains on Arsenal’s radar however, it could be a star that the North Londoners haven’t been directly linked to that could make a significant difference.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Olympique Lyonnais superstar Rayan Cherki could be on the move this month, with the understanding that a ‘verbal agreement’ is in place for the player to leave this winter.

A January exit is available for a reported €22.5m (£19m), which could make for an extraordinary bargain if Arsenal were to explore the possibility of signing the attacker.

Romano added that ‘several clubs’ have Cherki on their radar and while it’s unclear whether Arsenal are one of those sides, the Gunners could strike gold by parting ways with a mere £19m.

Cherki could transform Martin Odegaard’s form

Cherki would be a strong signing for Arsenal, particularly at this moment in time as lack of depth and lack of form is hindering Arteta’s front line.

Captain Martin Odegaard was blasted by Arsenal fans for his recent performance against Aston Villa, with it clear that the Norweigan needs some change.

Arteta could supply the skipper with a helping hand by signing Cherki, who has the ability to compete with and test Odegaard in the attacking midfield role, as well as offering support on the wings.

Cherki has played all over the front line for Lyon, making him a near-perfect match for what Arsenal need right now.

Having the chance to recruit a player of Cherki’s quality for such a slim price is a rarity, particularly when considering the staggering high ceiling the 21-year-old has.

All eyes are on Arsenal to deliver something special in the January window, with Cherki a real possibility to make great change at a low cost.
