Mikel Arteta has made some excellent additions to his Arsenal squad over the years; however, there is one signing who is starting to look like a bad buy.

Since the arrival of Andrea Berta, the Gunners’ recruitment has been very impressive as he added seven new signings over the summer.

The North London club have now assembled one of the best squads in Europe, with Arsenal’s depth in quality also showing itself this season.

But there is one purchase Mikel Arteta made back in 2023 which now looks to be a mistake following the latest injury news coming out of the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz is starting to look like a bad buy at Arsenal

It might seem rather harsh, especially considering he is injured right now, but now dropping £65 million on Kai Havertz is starting to look like bad business from Arsenal.

Initially, the German attacker’s signing was questioned anyway, but he started to prove himself in North London and helped to improve Arteta’s team.

But with Viktor Gyokeres signed for £65 million over the summer, the former Chelsea man has now fallen down the pecking order and hasn’t even been available.

The attacker has made just one appearance this season, and it was a similar case last term, as the 26-year-old missed 21 matches in total.

Now, Havertz has suffered a setback in his recovery and is set to be sidelined until the New Year.

This has left Arteta short in attack, with Gabriel Jesus having just returned to training and Gyokeres a doubt to face Tottenham, meaning Mikel Merino could start up front.

At his best, Havertz can be a very useful player for the Gunners, but given his lack of availability over the last year and his current position in the squad, it’s a deal Arteta will want to forget.

Gabriel Jesus is about to become really important at Arsenal

Jesus is about to become really important at Arsenal during December, as he is going to become the back-up option for Gyokeres.

During Wednesday’s training session at London Colney, Jesus looked really sharp and showed promising signs that he is soon ready to return.

With Havertz out until at least January, the Brazilian striker is going to be needed by Arteta to allow Gyokeres the chance to rest.

Jesus is keen to stay at Arsenal until 2027 when his contract expires, although the Gunners may have different ideas come January.
