All eyes will be on Josh and Stan Kroenke in the summer transfer window, as Arsenal desperately need a big summer.
Josh Kroenke has set the scene for a high-spending summer in N5, committing to backing Mikel Arteta to ensure the Arsenal squad edge closer to silverware.
Aside from Arsenal being linked to a list of transfer targets, there will also be a thought given regarding possible exits.
Gabriel Martinelli’s future has been discussed, despite the fact that Arteta sees the winger as a core part of his plans.
Positional rivals are being linked with a move to the Emirates, as Rodrygo is on Arsenal’s radar as a possible upgrade on his countryman.
While Martinelli’s teammates think he’s been ‘on fire’ at times in the season, there’s been a lot missing from the Brazilian, and it’s becoming impossible to ignore.

Gabriel Martinelli’s market value is falling
For fans and pundits, Martinelli’s lacklustre form has been spoken about for some time, as the 23-year-old has yet to show the quality to match his 2022/23 campaign.
That season, the Brazil international contributed to 22 goals in all competitions, netting a record-equalling 15 goals by a Brazilian in the Premier League.
Since then, the 2019 signing has scored only 14 times in the top-flight, representing a decline that is not only alarming for Arteta, but for Arsenal’s owners too.
In 2023, Martinelli was valued at £131.5m, a fee that would present the Gunners with a remarkable nine-figure profit if he were to be sold.
Given that Edu Gaspar signed the forward for just £6m, the winger has always been regarded as a source of magnificent profit, which is why his dip in form might alert the Kroenkes.
A year after his £131.5m estimated price tag emerged, Martinelli’s value had dropped to £88.8m, which, despite still representing a high profit, also portrayed a sharp decline.
What is perhaps the most concerning about the wide player’s hot and cold performances is that his market value is falling rapidly behind the scenes.
The most recent valuation of Martinelli represents only £50m, which is understood to be Arsenal’s asking price for the ex-Ituano starlet.
The figures suggest that Arteta’s attacker has watched his value fall by an ominous £81.5m in just two years, telling all that needs to be known about Martinelli’s need to step up.

Arsenal will be wary of Martinelli’s dip in form
When looking at where things aren’t ticking for Martinelli, there’s a clear decline in his success in one-versus-one situations.
| Season | Successful take-ons | Successful take-on % | Carries into final third |
| 2022/23 | 1.94 | 45.1% | 2.10 |
| 2023/24 | 1.78 | 35.1% | 2.18 |
| 2024/25 | 1.30 | 29.9% | 1.30 |
Given how much Arteta’s playing style relies on his wide players beating their man and crossing, it’s a crucial area that the Brazilian needs to perform in.
From an outsider’s point of view, what could be causing Martinelli’s fall-off in form in the wide areas?
There’s one answer that could provide the answers, and that’s a lack of competition that is causing complacency and a feeling of being comfortable in the starting XI.
Putting Arsenal’s need to sign a striker aside, the Gunners must be prepared to sign top-quality competition to get the best out of Martinelli, whose dipping form stands for far more than just a lack of goal contribution.
