Mikel Arteta is not just targeting reinforcements in attacking areas this summer.

Arsenal have been in desperate need of a natural centre forward for some time and Benjamin Sesko’s release clause is unlikely to be triggered despite ‘contact’ being made for the striker.

Wingers are another priority at the Emirates Stadium this window and Arsenal are interested in Kaoru Mitoma, whilst Arteta dreams of luring Nico Williams to North London.

Jakub Kiwior’s uncertain Arsenal future means that Andrea Berta has also been instructed to explore defensive options however, the Gunners have suffered a blow in their pursuit of a top La Liga target.

Cristhian Mosquera reaches verbal ‘agreement’ with RB Leipzig

As per journalist Florian Plettenburg’s X account, defender Cristhian Mosquera has reached a verbal ‘agreement’ with RB Leipzig ahead of a proposed move from Valencia.

Arsenal were interested in Mosquera but it appears that the German outfit have stolen a march and agreed a long-term contract with the defender.

An agreement is yet to be made between the two clubs but with the Gunners focusing on contract extensions and their pursuit of Sesko, Mosquera appears to be slipping from their grasp.

Three alternatives to Christhian Mosquera Arsenal can sign

There are still options out there in the centre-back department for Arsenal to explore this summer and with Kiwior set to depart and issues over the fitness of Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, the Gunners want to strengthen.

Arsenal Insider explores three alternative options to Mosquera that would fulfil the club’s wish of strength in depth at centre half.

Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi has been linked with Arsenal in previous transfer windows but the club were put off by Crystal Palace’s high demands.

However, with Guehi’s contract expiring in June 2026, this summer will be the last opportunity for Palace to cash-in on one of their star players and Berta could pounce.

£70m was the reported figure being quoted last summer and with Guehi’s contract situation, the Gunners would be confident of securing him for a much lower fee this time around.

Jorrel Hato

Jorrel Hato is another name that has been a long-term target for Arteta and the Ajax man could finally make the switch to the Premier League this summer.

Liverpool are also said to be keen on the 19-year-old, who has once again impressed in Holland with his physicality and composure on the ball.

Left-footed, Hato would provide balance to the defence and could even cover at left-back, although Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performances have cooled interest in Hato.

Ezri Konsa

No previous links to the Gunners but Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa could be the perfect purchase for the club this summer.

Konsa has been outstanding for Unai Emery’s side in the league this season and also possesses Champions League experience following Villa’s run to the quarter-final.

The 27-year-old has impressed at international level too and with Villa failing to qualify in the top five on the last day of the season, Arsenal could take advantage of PSR concerns surrounding the club.
