Mikel Arteta is fully focused on keeping Arsenal’s momentum going, however, some thought to the transfer window is taking place.

After Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates, Arteta’s side reduced the gap between themselves and Liverpool to seven points.

The Gunners have now won their previous four games in all competitions, injecting some confidence into the title-hungry squad.

While Arteta will be overjoyed with the project he’s created at the Emirates, it’s rumoured that he’s ready to see to one mistake he made in 2022.

Arsenal ready to part ways with Fabio Vieira

Arsenal welcomed five players in the summer transfer window and also allowed a handful of talent to depart.

Several left permanently and others bid farewell for the season, with first-teamers Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira embarking on loan spells.

While Nelson has been impressing at Fulham in the Premier League, Vieira is making his mark at Porto, returning to his former club in an attempt to secure game time.

The midfielder, who was signed for £34m in 2022, struggled to impose himself at Arsenal, with it now reported that Arteta has seen enough.

Even though Arteta thinks Vieira is ‘tremendous’, a report from the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel suggests that the Gunners are ready to axe the creative gem.

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for the 24-year-old and are open to selling the player once his loan spell at Porto concludes.

With just 49 appearances and only five Premier League starts under his belt since joining Arsenal, Vieira’s suitability for the English game has been questioned and it could just lead to the end of his Emirates journey.

How is Vieira doing on loan at Porto?

It took a while for Vieira to get going at Porto when he returned to his boyhood club at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

This was because the playmaker was struggling with injury, which he has since recovered from.

From the 13 apperances he’s made for Porto in all competitions this term, there have been mixed reviews, with Portuguese media criticising Vieira for his lack of contribution at times.

The Gunners outsider has two goals and one assist so far this season for the Dragons, with one of Vieira’s goals generating attention from Arsenal fans who have been keeping up with the 24-year-old’s progress.

For now, it seems as though whatever the midfielder goes on to do this campaign, his time at Arsenal will come to an end in the near future.
