Arsenal’s January transfer window is yet to get going, although a late surge of arrivals could yet be on the cards.
Adding a forward to Mikel Arteta’s ranks is certainly the priority, although acquiring young talent that can develop in other positions, particularly in midfield, is also on the agenda.
Jobe Bellingham is a target for Arsenal, although the Sunderland star isn’t expected to leave the north-east this month.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also interested in Evan Mooney, but face competition from Newcastle United and Leicester City for his signature.
The Gunners may instead be forced to look elsewhere for an upcoming midfielder who can deputise for Martin Odegaard.

Martin Odegaard talking to Sverre Nypan about Arsenal and Man United moves
Thomas Partey is expected to leave Arsenal in the summer when his contract expires, while Jorginho is also likely to be in the departure lounge at London Colney in six months time.
This will leave a gaping hole at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield cohort that will need filling.
Hence, the North Londoners are being linked with a host of young midfielders.
Arsenal are looking to sign Sverre Nypan, an 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder who has inevitably been compared to Odegaard.
According to GiveMeSport, Nypan is actually in communication with his compatriot about joining the Gunners.
The Arsenal captain is trying to convince the prospect to reject Manchester United’s potential proposal in favour of a switch to N5.

Borussia Dortmund are also understood to be in the mix to land Nypan, and his next destination will ultimately be decided by the player himself.
Arteta is hopeful that the starlet will be attracted to the idea of playing for Arsenal and developing at a club that is competing for major honours.
The Spaniard is optimistic that Odegaard’s discussions with Nypan will lead to the Rosenborg man putting pen to paper on a deal with Arsenal.

Who is Sverre Nypan and why do Arsenal want to sign him
Born in Norway, Nypan has been at Rosenborg since the age of 14, and has quickly progressed through the age groups and into the first team.
He made his senior debut in November 2022 at the age of 15, becoming the youngest player to play for the Norwegian giants.
Making 60 appearances since this debut, Nypan has fully established himself as a regular at Rosenborg, and is subsequently attracting interest from a host of clubs.
Described as ‘exceptional’ and ‘one of the best in his age group’ by football analyst Ben Mattinson, the attacking midfielder is creative and excels in the final third.
He moves gracefully with the ball, weaving in and out of challenges effortlessly.
With Fabio Vieira on loan, Arsenal could do with an alternative option to Odegaard, and Nypan could certainly be the man to fulfil this role.
