Arsenal suffered yet another frustrating evening in front of goal with a 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle in the semi final of the Carabao Cup.
The game was littered with missed chances for Mikel Arteta’s side with Gabriel Martinelli hitting the post and Kai Havertz missing a header from two yards. The result has left some fans calling for Arteta to be sacked.
Arsenal’s troubles in front of goal have led to a number of forward players being linked with the club. Juventus have offered Dusan Vlahovic and the Gunners are targeting Nico Williams.
Whilst Arsenal may be ahead of Man City in the Premier League, it seems Pep Guardiola is making moves in the transfer market and may be about to pip Arsenal to one of their attacking targets.

David Ornstein reveals Man City advancing in talks to sign Omar Marmoush
Journalist David Ornstein has revealed via his X account that Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. Arsenal have been linked with Omar Marmoush.
The news will come as a blow to Mikel Arteta with Arsenal fans excited about Marmoush and the need for more firepower at the top end of the pitch.
The need for a goalscorer could not be more pressing for Arsenal having surrendered a two goal lead in the Carabao cup to Newcastle and trailing Liverpool by six points in the Premier League.
Omar Marmoush’s profile would have fit the side perfectly but it seems that rivals City may have stolen a march in the race to sign the Egyptian.
Omar Marmoush outperforming Havertz and Jesus this season
Arsenal’s current strikers Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have been rotated in the striker position in recent games with neither really staking a claim to make the position their own.
With Bukayo Saka’s injury, responsibility has fallen on the striking duo to find the back of the net and earn Arsenal points in the title race, which thus far they have failed to deliver on.
| Key attacking metrics this season | Marmoush | Havertz | Jesus |
| Goals | 13 | 7 | 3 |
| Assists | 7 | 2 | 0 |
| Shots on target | 43.5% | 41% | 35% |
| Shots (per 90) | 4.38 | 2.37 | 2.96 |
| Crosses | 69 | 7 | 7 |
Marmoush has outperformed Havertz and Jesus in a number of attacking metrics this season, and by putting in a significant number of crosses into the box, he could even play alongside someone like Havertz.
With Manchester City seemingly ready to pounce on the signing, Arsenal would be wise to make their move quickly on the Egyptian as their fading title hopes hang in the balance.
