Arsenal are already planning for the summer transfer window after seeing the impact of spending big in preparation for the 2025/26 campaign.
Andrea Berta impressed Arsenal fans by signing eight players in the summer transfer window, with the Italian earning even more applause as the Gunners’ squad depth is paving the way to silverware.
Right now, the Arsenal squad is near-perfect when it comes to depth; however, there are some tweaks that Mikel Arteta could make.
One was believed to be his options in the striker department, as it wasn’t long ago at all that Arsenal were understood to be ready to sell Gabriel Jesus.
Jesus was linked with a winter move, but now, the Brazilian’s stance at the Emirates has changed.
How many goals will Gabriel Jesus score from now until the end of the season? Will he outscore Viktor Gyokeres?
Fabrizio Romano says Gabriel Jesus is untouchable at Arsenal
Palmeiras made it clear that they wanted to sign Jesus, but Arteta will not let that happen, particularly now.
Fabrizio Romano shared an update on the 28-year-old’s transfer status at Arsenal when speaking on his YouTube channel.
Romano’s update referred to rumours linking Jesus to a transfer to AC Milan.
“As for Gabriel Jesus and Milan: despite talk during the transfer window, it was never a real possibility,” Romano revealed.
“From what I’m told, the player was never offered, not even to Milan, because he was never for sale.
“Arsenal have always had different ideas and have always considered both Havertz and Gabriel Jesus untouchable, because of how they can help up front. The plan was always to send Ethan Nwaneri, the young talent, out on loan. He will go to Marseille, arriving today for medicals and to sign.”
Ethan Nwaneri is set to sign for Marseille for the remainder of the 2025/26 calendar, and will be the only exit from the current Arsenal first team.
Romano wasn’t done talking about Jesus, making it very clear that under no circumstances is the striker for sale.
“Why? Because Arsenal believe Gabriel Jesus can still help this season. He was never a player on the market.
“Milan were never rejected by Gabriel Jesus—there was never a price, never an offer, nothing—because Gabriel Jesus is not for sale. And offering for a player who isn’t for sale, as you can understand, makes no sense, especially given that he is clearly a very important piece in Arsenal’s rotation.”
The news comes as little surprise, as Arteta has never wanted to sell Jesus, who he speaks highly of at any given opportunity.
Jesus wants a new Arsenal contract
It’s impossible not to want Jesus to succeed, as the 28-year-old’s infectious energy and positivity radiate through the Arsenal squad.
On top of that, he’s arguably Arsenal’s most skilful player, being an unplayable centre-forward on his day.
The Gunners don’t want to lose the Brazil international anytime soon, and the feeling is mutual.
Right now, tell us why you would/wouldn’t offer Gabriel Jesus a new contract
Speaking to the media after his brace against Inter Milan, Jesus went public with his desire to commit his long-term future to Arsenal.
“My wish is to stay at Arsenal, I want to extend my contract, I want to stay,” Jesus said.
“I want to win trophies with Arsenal because I come here with a purpose, and that’s it. But obviously, the reality is different.”
With a contract that expires next summer, Jesus has made his stance very clear, but it has to be said, if Arsenal were to tie the forward down, they’d expect more goals in return.
