Arsenal are looking to bolster their attacking options for the rest of the season as they have been linked with a possible free agent signing in the weeks ahead.

The Gunners are down to the bare bones up front, with Gabriel Jesus’ ACL injury keeping him sidelined for the rest of the season, heading into the latter end of the calendar year.

Add to that Kai Havertz’s hamstring tear, which is set to keep him out of action until a return in pre-season, and it leaves the forward ranks rather slim.

Mikel Arteta has already had to experiment with his Arsenal players to see who could fit where in the striker role, with it unclear who may be best suited to play there.

It could, however, see the North London side turn to the free agent market, one which could be strengthened by a former Premier League title winner.

Arsenal monitor Roberto Firmino free agent transfer

There are very few top-quality free agents available, not least for a team in Arsenal’s position as they look to ramp up the Premier League title race, along with the hunt for the Champions League trophy.

One could soon become available though as former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino could be about to enter the market.

Reports have stated that the Brazilian’s contract at Al-Alhi could be terminated in the coming days, making him available once more.

With that said, RTI Esporte reports that Arsenal and Flamengo are two sides watching the striker over a potential move.

Firmino is claimed to prefer a return to Europe, while the Gunners could see it as a market opportunity to strengthen their ranks.

It’s unclear whether the North London outfit will make an offer or not, but it is an option that wasn’t previously available.

How has Roberto Firmino done since leaving Liverpool?

Firmino spent eight years at Liverpool, with the striker moving from misunderstood to thriving, with his role as more of a facilitator up front for his teammates working wonders to get the most out of Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah.

The 33-year-old helped them win the Premier League title, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in a clean sweep of available trophies.

Firmino’s switch to Al-Alhi has come with varying success for him personally as well as the team as a whole.

He was never much of a scorer though, with his all-round play helping those around him and bringing out the best in them.

It remains to be seen if Firmino could join Arsenal, but they will be hoping he can help their stars unlock the best of them.
