Arsenal remain very active as we approach the end of the transfer window.
Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal need a new striker, and a number of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Jhon Duran is the latest one Arsenal like, but there are several others too – in the Premier League and abroad.
Jamie Carragher has now had his say on two of them.
Jamie Carragher names the striker Arsenal should sign out of Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha
Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are both targets for Arsenal.
The former has been on Arteta’s radar for over a year now. The Gunners tried to sign him last summer, but Sesko rejected Arsenal and decided to stay at Leipzig then.
The North Londoners are still keen on the ‘unbelievable‘ Sesko, and Arsenal fans are hoping something can be done on that front in the final few days of the window.
Arsenal are also trying to sign Cunha, and many supporters would love to see him in the famous red and white. Carragher, however, isn’t convinced by the Brazilian.
In a game of Transfer Deal or No Deal on Sky Sports, when Cunha to Arsenal was suggested £65 million, Carragher said: “He’s a good player but I wouldn’t be paying £65 million for him. I’m not sure where he would play for Arsenal.”
When Sesko to Arsenal for £60 million was suggested, Carragher said: “Deal! They need to sign a striker otherwise they won’t win the Premier League.”
Who should Arsenal sign – Sesko or Cunha?
Sesko and Cunha are both solid options for Arsenal.
In an ideal world, we would love to see Arteta sign them both, but we just can’t see a world in which Arsenal will spend over £120 million in this window.
So, if we had to pick one, we would probably go with Sesko too, just because Arsenal’s need for an out-and-out number nine is far greater than their need for someone like Cunha, who can play anywhere in attack.
However, we will not be complaining if Arsenal end up with Cunha in this window. He will certainly be an upgrade and will offer Arteta multiple options in every game.
